Value And Longshot Picks For Super Bowl LVI MVP

One of the biggest sporting events of the year is this weekend, with the Bengals and the Rams playing in Super Bowl LVI. When it looks like the winner will be locked in, the next big question becomes: who wins Super Bowl MVP (and a trip to Disney World)? Tee Higgins is pretty low at +6000 odds, and he should have a considerable advantage facing the non-Ramsey cornerbacks of the Rams. Higgins hasn’t scored in the past four games, but he has 199 yards over the past two games and could easily get red-hot with performances like his end of the regular season stretch (including 12/194/2 in Week 17).

 

Tyler Boyd (+10000)

Tyler Boyd hasn’t had massive outings this season, but it would not be a surprise if he gets his heaviest target total of the season as a great security blanket out of the slot while his quarterback deals with a tremendous Rams pass rush. While Kupp on the other side will obviously be getting much of the focus in the Super Bowl, don’t sleep on Boyd, who sounds confident like the rest of his team, racking up huge numbers on the other side. One concern with Higgins and Boyd for MVP is that Burrow would figure to have an excellent chance to win it if they do well as his receivers.

 

Leonard Floyd (+15000)

Aaron Donald and Von Miller are also potential values as guys that could notch big sack totals on Sunday, but Leonard Floyd might be the best value among the “big three” of the LA pass rushers. Somewhat quietly, Floyd has 20 sacks over the past two seasons, and his athleticism could help him finish with sacks against a quarterback that’s been superb at navigating and escaping the pocket. Floyd has the ability to chase down Burrow and make game-changing plays for the Rams defense.

 

Jessie Bates III (+20000)

Finally, a major longshot is Jessie Bates III. But the Bengals safety and his partner on the backend Von Bell figure to be key in a potential Bengals upset in Super Bowl LVI. As indicated by the fortunate dropped interception Stafford threw in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game, the Rams quarterback takes chances down the field and will often put the ball in harm’s way. If a surprising defensive battle emerges, Bates recording a couple of turnovers—and maybe a defensive score—should put in squarely in the MVP mix.
