The top handful of teams remain steady, with much shuffling in the latest MLB power rankings behind them.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (34-14) | Last week: 1
The Phillies are the first team to get to 20 games over .500, and there’s no reason to believe they’ll slow down with how strong and deep they are.
2. New York Yankees (33-15) | Last week: 5 (+2)
Aaron Judge is simply on another level right now, becoming the only player since 1930 with at least 15 extra-base hits, ten walks, and a .600 on-base percentage over a dozen-game stretch. Juan Soto (two homers on Saturday) isn’t bad, either.
3. Los Angeles Dodgers (32-17) | Last week: 3
Shohei Ohtani had his first walk-off hit for the Dodgers in yesterday’s win, and Walker Buehler threw six shutout innings in Saturday’s victory. The Dodgers are clicking.
4. Baltimore Orioles (29-15) | Last week: 2 (-2)
While the Orioles drop a couple of spots in this week’s power rankings, they are coming off a 3-2 week and will now have a good opportunity stack up wins versus the Cardinals and White Sox.
5. Atlanta Braves (26-16) | Last week: 4 (-1)
Atlanta has lost three consecutive games, including Saturday and Sunday at home to the Padres—but a rare continuation of a four-game series heading into today and tomorrow gives them a shot to get back on track and go for a split.
6. Cleveland Guardians (30-17) | Last week: 7 (+1)
A three-game sweep of the Twins created more distance between them and the defending AL Central champs, and last week started with a series win against the Rangers. It was a major pass for Cleveland in a big test after they had cooled off earlier in the month.
7. Kansas City Royals (29-19) | Last week: 9 (+2)
The Royals continue to look legit, and veteran starting pitcher Seth Lugo has been one of the big keys to their success this season. Lugo is 7-1 with a 1.79 ERA and has strikeout totals of 12 and ten over his past two outings.
8. Milwaukee Brewers (27-19) | Last week: 8
They ultimately lost the weekend series, but Saturday’s win—sparked by a three-run homer after a 13-pitch at-bat by William Contreras—exemplified the type of year the Brewers catcher is having to this point.
9. Seattle Mariners (25-22) | Last week: 12 (+3)
These final couple of spots in the top ten are up for grabs, but the AL West leading Mariners slot in at No. 9 ahead of an enormous test in the Bronx.
10. San Diego Padres (24-24) | Last week: 14 (+4)
The Padres dominated Sunday Night Baseball in Atlanta last night, and they rise despite getting swept by the Rockies to begin last week. Luis Arraez has 17 hits in 12 games for San Diego, and we know this lineup can be dangerous.
11. Texas Rangers (24-24) | Last week: 11
12. Minnesota Twins (24-22) | Last week: 6 (-6)
13. Tampa Bay Rays (25-23) | Last week: 15 (+2)
14. Chicago Cubs (26-22) | Last week: 10 (-4)
15. Boston Red Sox (23-24) | Last week: 13 (-2)
16. Arizona Diamondbacks (22-25) | Last week: 16
17. Detroit Tigers (23-23) | Last week: 17
18. Houston Astros (21-26) | Last week: 24 (+6)
19. San Francisco Giants (23-25) | Last week: 21 (+2)
20. Toronto Blue Jays (20-25) | Last week: 20
21. Pittsburgh Pirates (22-26) | Last week: 23 (+2)
22. New York Mets (21-25) | Last week: 18 (-4)
23. St. Louis Cardinals (20-26) | Last week: 25 (+2)
24. Washington Nationals (20-25) | Last week: 19 (-5)
25. Cincinnati Reds (19-28) | Last week: 26 (+1)
26. Los Angeles Angels (18-29) | Last week: 27
27. Oakland Athletics (19-30) | Last week: 22 (-5)
28. Colorado Rockies (15-31) | Last week: 28
29. Miami Marlins (15-33) | Last week: 30 (+1)
30. Chicago White Sox (14-33) | Last week: 29 (-1)
