Quick MLB power rankings for the week include the Phillies and Yankees still pacing the top two spots.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (38-16) | Last week: 1
A weekend series loss at Colorado was a shocker, but it was the first time the Phillies have lost a series since their second series of the year.
2. New York Yankees (37-18) | Last week: 2
Aaron Judge homered in four consecutive games, and the Yanks had two shutout victories last week.
3. Baltimore Orioles (33-18) | Last week: 4 (+1)
After getting swept by the Cardinals, the O’s were able to bounce back with a four-game sweep of the White Sox.
4. Cleveland Guardians (36-17) | Last week: 6 (+2)
The Guardians stayed hot all last week, pushing their winning streak to nine games ahead of favorable matchups with the Rockies and Nats.
5. Los Angeles Dodgers (33-22) | Last week: 3 (-2)
The Dodgers were swept by the Reds and have now lost five consecutive games, their longest losing streak in five years.
6. Atlanta Braves (30-20) | Last week: 5 (-1)
Spencer Stride was already done for the year, and now the Braves are without arguably their best overall player in superstar outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., who has suffered an ACL tear for the second time in his career. It’s terrible for Acuna, and you’ve got to feel for him.
7. Kansas City Royals (34-20) | Last week: 7
Kansas City continues to look legit, with the third-best run differential in baseball behind only the Yankees and Phillies. They will look to put more distance between themselves and the Twins to begin this week.
8. Milwaukee Brewers (30-22) | Last week: 8
The Brewers are just a good all-around club, and now they’ll battle the second-place Cubs while up 3.5 games in the NL Central.
9. Minnesota Twins (28-24) | Last week: 12 (+3)
Minnesota has four games to cut into the distance the Royals (for a wild card spot right now, with the Guardians in front of them) have in a competitive AL Central.
10. San Diego Padres (28-28) | Last week: 10
A strong 5.1 innings from Joe Musgrove helped the Padres salvage the third game of their series versus the Yankees. San Diego is among nine teams within four games for the second and third wild card slots in the National League.
