We have a new No. 1 in the MLB power rankings for the first time in weeks.
1. New York Yankees (42-19) | Last week: 2 (+1)
The Yankees are a game up in the win column for the best record in baseball, and everything just seems to be going right for them—including star pitcher Gerrit Cole nearing a potential 2024 debut.
2. Philadelphia Phillies (41-19) | Last week: 1 (-1)
While the Phillies have cooled off a bit as of late, they are as dangerous as anyone when they’re on their game. They go to London this weekend to face the Mets for two games.
3. Baltimore Orioles (37-20) | Last week: 3
The Rays came back to win yesterday in a game where the teams combined for 28 hits but scored just seven runs, and the AL East-heavy stretch for the Orioles resumes with the Jays and the Rays again this week.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers (38-23) | Last week: 5 (+1)
After sweeping the Mets and taking two-of-three from the Rockies, the Dodgers will take on electric rookie pitcher Paul Skenes and the Pirates this week. A weekend showdown with the Yankees also looms.
5. Cleveland Guardians (39-20) | Last week: 4 (-1)
The Guardians are an American League-best 20-7 at home this season, and they’ll host the Royals for a big divisional matchup
6. Milwaukee Brewers (36-23) | Last week: 8 (+2)
With the Cubs struggling to win a series and the Cardinals coming back from a slow start, the Brewers currently have a seven-game lead in the NL Central. Rhys Hoskins returns to Philadelphia for the first time, and it must feel good to be playing for a contending first-place club.
7. Atlanta Braves (33-24) | Last week: 6 (-1)
It would have been almost unfathomable for the Braves to drop this low in the power rankings before the year—but teams playing so well ahead of them paired with injuries and inconsistency has them at No. 7.
8. Minnesota Twins (33-26) | Last week: 9 (+1)
The Twins deserve to leap the Royals after taking three-of-four to begin last week. Joe Miranda came up big with two hits including a home run in yesterday’s rubber match versus the Astros.
9. Kansas City Royals (36-25) | Last week: 7 (-2)
Kansas City lost both series last week, but they have an opportunity to get back on track and continue their strong campaign while being tested by the Guardians, Mariners, Yankees, and Dodgers over their next four series.
10. Seattle Mariners (34-27) | Last week: 11 (+1)
Currently on pace to break the MLB single-season strikeout record (on offense, not their pitching staff), the Mariners moved on from bench coach and offensive coordinator Brant Brown in an effort to get some type of spark. Yet they lead the AL West.
11. San Diego Padres (32-20) | Last week: 10 (-1)
12. Texas Rangers (29-30) | Last week: 17 (+5)
13. Boston Red Sox (30-30) | Last week: 12 (-1)
14. St. Louis Cardinals (28-29) | Last week: 14
15. Detroit Tigers (29-30) | Last week: 19 (+4)
16. San Francisco Giants (29-31) | Last week: 13 (-3)
17. Tampa Bay Rays (29-31) | Last week: 16 (-1)
18. Toronto Blue Jays (28-30) | Last week: 22 (+4)
19. Chicago Cubs (29-31) | Last week: 15 (-4)
20. Arizona Diamondbacks (27-32) | Last week: 18 (-2)
21. Washington Nationals (27-31) | Last week: 23 (+2)
22. Houston Astros (26-34) | Last week: 20 (-2)
23. Pittsburgh Pirates (27-32) | Last week: 21 (-2)
24. Cincinnati Reds (26-33) | Last week: 24
25. New York Mets (24-35) | Last week: 25
26. Oakland Athletics (24-37) | Last week: 26
27. Colorado Rockies (21-37) | Last week: 27
28. Los Angeles Angels (21-38) | Last week: 28
29. Miami Marlins (21-39) | Last week: 29
30. Chicago White Sox (15-45) | Last week: 30
