Strengths

Strong with solid overall size. Very smooth and polished pass-catcher. Heavy usage in slot and tight alignments. High intelligence and awareness. Extremely soft and reliable hands. Elite catch focus to make contested grabs. Tracks the ball at a high level down the field. Late hands aid him while contested. Routinely makes difficult catches. Catches the ball cleanly with a defender on his back. Knows how to best secure passes depending on the ball location. Hauls in passes with ease while on the move. Great ability to reach for balls off his frame. Catches balls on his back hip without really breaking stride. Smooth reaching down for low passes. Drifts to the ball as he makes the catch. Extremely flat on routes across the field. Soft feet to get down on the boundary. Excellent overall pacing running routes. Knows how to dip around contact while maintaining speed through the route. Uses a shoulder dip to avoid contact on deeper routes. Tremendous feel for working underneath clearout routes. Knows how to find space. Fluid movements at the top of routes. Quick release and crisp footwork on slants from the slot. Accelerates to separate on shorter route breaks. Gets low sinking into breaks. Creates space on pivot routes. Quick to throttle down on stop routes. Extremely smooth as he accelerates turning up on wheel routes. Fast and urgent on vertical and crossing routes. Targeted on RPO screens and designed throws in the flat. Doesn’t break stride turning into a runner. Exceptional vision as a runner. Gets up the field with impressive strength. Elusive with a great juke when he gets going. Used on end arounds and handoffs. Saw snaps lined up in the backfield for split shotgun formations. Very good ability as a blocker. Shows he will block inside with good technique.

Weaknesses

Has a tougher time separating late from close coverage. Could be better getting off press coverage. Gets what’s blocked but lacks high-end twitch and speed to otherwise break huge gains. Needs to be more consistent getting the job done as a blocker. Struggled to block on flare screens versus Penn State (2024).

Conclusion

Overall, Egbuka is an extremely polished wide receiver with terrific catch focus, intelligence, and natural receiving ability. He should provide inside-outside versatility and can make an impact on all three levels for an NFL passing attack.
