Strengths
Excellent overall athleticism. Ideal frame and catch radius. Fluid overall movement and change-of-direction skills. Very good speed and acceleration. Great burst as a route runner. Very quick feet at his size. Fluid in and out of breaks. Able to cross late in releases to get route leverage. Very crisp on out cuts. Quick to settle on stop routes. Instantly turns to present a target to the quarterback on underneath routes. Extremely clean and doesn’t break stride on dig routes. Outstanding deceptiveness and footwork selling deeper route breaks. Presses routes vertically with speed before breaking them off. Very smooth on out-and-up moves. Uses a shoulder dip to avoid coverage on vertical and over routes. Runs crossing routes at full speed. Will be physical at the top of routes. Excellent hands. Works back to the quarterback and through the ball to make grabs. Tremendous high-point ability and able to reach up for balls in traffic. Terrific reaching for balls off his frame and going down to secure low passes. Can adjust late to back-shoulder passes. Works to get open on quarterback scrambles. Saw significant snaps lined up out wide and in the slot. Implemented on pre-snap motion to get going at the snap. Has been used to run angle routes out of the backfield. Often used on delayed releases in front of the quarterback and gets downhill as a runner. Targeted on screens and pop passes. Very smooth with the ball in his hands. Elusiveness kicks in right at the catch point and can break the first tackle. Will use skips and hurdles. Blocks with a wide base and engages with two hands. Stays attached and moves his feet. Solid strength as a blocker to drive versus smaller opponents. Able to pin and help wipe opponents out on down blocks. Competes and works to stay engaged versus bigger opponents. Lacks drive power against stronger opponents but is able to keep positioning. Gets the job done in the hole as a lead blocker. Shows grit blocking in short-yardage situations. Experience with cross-formation blocks.
Weaknesses
Wonder how dynamic he will be versus NFL competition. Doesn’t create as much separation when route breaks reach a defender playing off coverage. Catch focus can be improved on shorter passes with defenders on him. Needs to avoid drifting out of bounds late in routes and on second-chance opportunities. Could be more aggressive into contact as a blocker. Will have defenders beat him across his face as a blocker.

Conclusion
Overall, Loveland is an athletic, fluid tight end who compares favorably to Mike Gesicki in terms of his receiving skillset. He might not be quite as purely athletic, but Loveland makes up for it by being an extremely solid all-around blocker in the running game.
