Strengths
Very smooth and easy thrower. Pinpoint overall accuracy and ball placement. Outstanding arm talent in terms of putting the ball where he wants. Feathery overall touch. Very quick release. Layers throws at a high level. Tremendous touch to throw over coverage. Very accurate and decisive on underneath passes. Consistently hits targets between the numbers on hitches. Very accurate on curl routes outside the numbers. Can add some heat to fit the ball in versus tighter coverage outside the numbers. Very accurate on short and intermediate in-breaking routes. Hits running backs in stride in the flat. Great ball placement on angle routes and pivot routes. Accurate on quick screens. Excellent accuracy throwing to a spot. Hits targets out in front on crossing routes. Quick hitting open over routes after turning his back on play-action fakes. Accurate throwing towards the sideline on speed outs. Exceptional touch and accuracy towards the sideline in general. Very good accuracy on corner routes. Delivers the ball in stride on intermediate passes going up the field. Very accurate on wheel routes. Has shown he will use shoulder manipulation to move coverage. Impressive accuracy and feel in the red zone. Throws a very catchable deep ball when hitting targets in stride. Will take advantage when his receivers get a step deeper between the numbers. Gets the ball out quickly and can alter his arm angle on RPOs. Great on-the-move accuracy. Hits receivers in stride throwing off platform. Able to flick his wrist to the deliver the ball accurately while moving forward. Squares and shoulders and throws accurately to the left. Good mobility to pick up yardage on scrambles. Shows toughness trying to get to the goal line or first down.
Weaknesses
Would like to see more advancement through progressions and full-field reads. Can be hesitant to pull the trigger on some deeper intermediate throws. Too often doesn’t see open in-breaking routes across the middle. Needs to do a better job reading underneath coverage after coming off deep routes. Will sometimes take the short throw rather than manipulating coverage to hit the intermediate window. Inconsistent on back-shoulder passes. Too often just throws the ball when receivers are covered. Has too many throws batted down. Seems paranoid versus pressure. Will either not feel pressure and/or get the ball out without looking. Doesn’t sense backside pressure. Usually wants to move out of the pocket rather than sliding or shuffling. Footwork gets shaky as pressure closes in. Had a bunch of running back screens that were nearly jumped. Average arm power. Want to see him get his lower half into throws deeper down the field. Will just lay out downfield throws and not be as accurate. Deep ball will float too long and allow cornerbacks to make a play on it. Some shots seem too premeditated.

Conclusion
Overall, Ewers is a very accurate quarterback who fits best in a scheme that gives him answers and allows him to get the ball out of his hands. The natural arm talent and touch to put the ball where he wants should be very appealing as a target in the third round.
