Team of the Week
QB: Josh Allen, BUF
Allen had a performance for the ages to begin 2025—particularly in the fourth quarter where he became the first player in NFL history to throw for 250+ yards and rush for two touchdowns to lead a comeback win over the Ravens. Overall, Allen had 424 total yards and four total touchdowns against a tough Baltimore defense.
RB: Derrick Henry, BAL
On the other side of Ravens-Bills, we saw Henry completely dominate Buffalo’s run defense yet again—rushing 18 times for 169 yards and two touchdowns. The lost fumble was obviously crushing, but Baltimore probably didn’t give the ball to King Henry enough, and he’s well on his way to pushing for 2,000 rushing yards again.
RB: Bijan Robinson, ATL
Tampa Bay was stingy versus the run with Robinson being bottled up (12 carries for 24 yards), but he more than made up for it as a pass-catcher by bringing in six receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. While the Vikings will be another difficult matchup on the ground in Week 2, we’ll see if Atlanta has better luck establishing the run.
WR: Zay Flowers, BAL
Flowers wasn’t available in last year’s playoff matchup, but he showed the difference he can make with a 7/143/1 line as the top target for Lamar Jackson. If the Baltimore offense is going to take another step forward (which the team expects to be the case), Flowers could carry WR1 upside.
WR: Quentin Johnston, LAC
Inconsistency has impacted Johnston to begin his career, but if Friday night is any indication, he could be in for a full-blown emergence after catching five-of-seven targets for 79 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Kansas City. Next week could set up for Johnston to have another big performance with a trip to Las Vegas.
TE: Dalton Kincaid, BUF
A healthy Kincaid makes a clear difference for the Buffalo offense, and he started the season on a high note by catching four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown—with the score being a contested grab in the end zone. The Bills spreading the ball around like they do will cause some frustration, but Kincaid can be a breakout star in 2025.
FLEX: Emeka Egbuka, TB
Despite not playing the best game offensively, Tampa Bay struck with two key touchdowns to Egbuka in his debut—with the first-round rookie already paying huge dividends for the Bucs and fantasy owners. With Chris Godwin Jr. (ankle) out for a few more weeks, Egbuka is looking like a weekly WR2 option.
D/ST: Denver Broncos
Denver leads all D/ST options with 16.0 fantasy points heading into Monday night, and it could have been an even better performance if the Broncos didn’t turn the ball over on offense. Even after the Colts lit up Miami in the opener, Denver will remain a top-flight play against them in Week 2.
K: Spencer Shrader, IND
There were a few kickers to put up strong numbers this week, and Shrader sits atop the leaderboard with 16.0 fantasy points after hitting all four of his field goals and all four of his extra points. Shrader was also very impressive last year with three teams, so he’ll move up the ranks if Indy shows Week 1 wasn’t a fluke.
Surprise of the Week: Steelers-Jets
The matchup between Pittsburgh and New York turning into a shootout was a major surprise, but both Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields played determined football against their former teams. In addition to those two each finishing with 25.66+ fantasy points, Breece Hall (15.5) and Garrett Wilson (19.0) looked better than expected for the Jets, and the Steelers had four weapons reach double-digit fantasy points in a projected slugfest.
Disappointment of the Week: Top wide receivers
Starting with A.J. Brown (1.3 fantasy points), DeVonta Smith (3.1), George Pickens (4.5), and even CeeDee Lamb (14.5) leaving some points on the field last Thursday night, into the Brazil game with Xavier Worthy (0.0) leaving on the first drive with a shoulder injury—it was not a great week for a few top wideouts. In Sunday action, those who underperformed included Ja’Marr Chase (3.6), Terry McLaurin (3.7), Jameson Williams (4.6), Tee Higgins (4.8), and Brian Thomas Jr. (8.5, saved by a rushing touchdown).
Rookie of the Week: Emeka Egbuka
Egbuka didn’t see heavy a heavy target total (six) in his debut—but it didn’t matter as he made the most of them by catching four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner. Both scores being from 25+ yards shows the touchdown potential and big-play ability of the rookie, and he will be a key part of the offense next Monday night in Houston.
Week 1 MVP: Josh Allen
There is no question here with Allen putting up 38.8 fantasy points as the only player to reach the 30.0-point threshold ahead of Monday Night Football—and coming on Sunday night surely slanted a bunch of matchups. As the leader in total touchdowns through eight seasons in a career (despite just starting his eighth season), Allen was well worth a second-round selection over the summer.
