The No. 10 spot is the lone change in our updated college football power rankings ahead of a couple of huge matchups on Saturday night.
1. Ohio State Buckeyes (3-0) | Last week: 1
Ohio State is coming off a bye, but as mentioned last week, Washington—now 3-0 with a point differential of +112—could be a tricky matchup as the Buckeyes head west.
2. Penn State Nittany Lions (3-0) | Last week: 2
Headlining this weekend’s action, Penn State hosts Oregon in what will be one of the biggest games of the year. Last year in the Big 10 Championship, Nicholas Singleton (14 touches for 148 yards and a touchdown) and Kaytron Allen (14 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown) both did major damage, but a couple of Drew Allar interceptions were costly in a 45-37 loss.
3. Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) | Last week: 3
All three teams in the top three are coming off a bye week, and Georgia needed the rest after an overtime thriller against Tennessee two weeks ago. Now, they are seeking a better result versus Alabama than they had late last September when former Crimson Tide star Jalen Milroe ripped them on the ground and through the air.
4. Oregon Ducks (4-0) | Last week: 4
Again, the Ducks won the Big 10 Championship against Penn State last year—but there are some key pieces that have been replaced with Dillon Gabriel, Jordan James, and Tez Johnson all in the NFL. We’ll see how quarterback Dante Moore handles the “white out” atmosphere in Happy Valley.
5. Miami Hurricanes (4-0) | Last week: 5
It’s a bit surprising to see Miami jump up to No. 2 in the AP Poll after a 26-7 win over Florida—as the game was close until the final five minutes. That said, some missed opportunities for the Canes are what kept it close, and they outgained the in-state rival 344-141.
6. Texas Longhorns (3-1) | Last week: 6
Arch Manning is coming off his best game of the season with five total touchdowns in a 55-0 win over Sam Houston—and not throwing an interception for the first time this season was a great sign. After a bye this week, SEC play will begin in October with a trip to Gainesville.
7. LSU Tigers (4-0) | Last week: 7
Garrett Nussmeier (25-of-31 for 273 yards and three touchdowns) got back on track last week, and potential 2026 starter Michael Van Buren Jr. shined as well with both a passing and rushing touchdown. In a loaded Saturday of action, LSU versus Ole Miss is another big-time showdown.
8. Texas A&M Aggies (3-0) | Last week: 8
Texas A&M is coming off the bye, and they need to be ready for an Auburn team that could have a chip on their shoulder based on how the loss to Oklahoma played out. It’ll be interesting to compare the performance of Marcel Reed to John Mateer as two of the early Heisman leaders.
9. Florida State Seminoles (3-0) | Last week: 9
The question about Florida State right now is if they can win through the air if forced to play from behind—but they haven’t needed to find out yet. And so far, Thomas Castellanos has been throwing for chunk yardage with 15.6 yards per attempt.
10. Indiana Hoosiers (4-0) | Last week: NR
Oklahoma could have been given the final spot, but as alluded to, they caught a couple of massive breaks in the close win over Auburn—so the nod instead goes to Indiana. After making the College Football Playoff last season, Curt Cignetti’s squad just destroyed Illinois (ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll at the time) by a score of 63-10 to improve to 4-0.
