Strengths

Ideal overall height and size. Extremely strong hands when contested downfield with defenders on him at the catch point. Tremendous ability to hold onto the ball through contact and hitting the ground. Excellent overall ball skills on contested catches. Outstanding body control and catch focus on jump balls. Does a great job tracking the ball downfield and over the shoulder. Very effective working back to underthrown downfield passes. Makes high-point grabs down the field. Shows courage going up for passes between defenders. Terrific getting his feet down on contested high-point grabs near the boundary. Crisp route cuts on deeper posts and corner breaks. Long strides to build up speed on post routes. Smooth on post-corner double moves. Big target and wins with inside releases on quick slants. Outstanding overall release footwork at his size. Very smooth on short-to-intermediate out routes. Presses cornerbacks before breaking on out-breaking routes. Deadens his legs for a catch working hard to the boundary. Throttles down smoothly and works back to the ball on curl routes. Quick turning on stop routes underneath. Often used in motion before the snap to get him moving. Impressive ability to operate as a possession target on quick-strike throws from various alignments. Strong hands to secure underneath passes going into traffic. Separates with good speed/pacing on crossing routes. Maintains speed through the catch running across the field. Able to bring in high throws on his back shoulder working across the middle. Excellent feel to settle between zone coverage on drag routes. Runs vertical routes from the slot. Very crisp on corner routes. Tries running to open space if the quarterback rolls out to the opposite side. Works to separate in general after the initial route. Used on inside screens. Aggressive accelerating upfield after the catch. Immediately turns into a runner on underneath receptions. Solid juke move. Excellent overall blocker. Exceptional accuracy and effort as a blocker. Squares up and stays in front of opponents. Strong and physical engaging. Hustles to get out in front as a blocker. Will take out defensive lineman blocking down from tight alignment and penetrating defensive linemen working inside. Experience as a punt returner and smooth when he gets into the open field.

Weaknesses

Average speed and burst separating from close man coverage. Struggles to get through and off contact early in routes. Had some trouble with the physical coverage and jams by Michigan (2025). Cornerbacks don’t seem too threatened by his speed on vertical routes. Not as crisp/smooth on in-breaking cuts. Can be too fast and lack deception/nuance on stutter-and-go moves. Limited elusiveness and creativity as a runner when he reaches defenders.

Conclusion

Overall, Boston is a strong, talented wideout with ideal size, tremendous catch focus, and impressive smoothness. He best profiles as a traditional X receiver but showed he can win with varied usage from different alignments, including an ability to work underneath.
