Strengths

Ideal overall frame. Varies his attack plan as a rusher to keep opponents guessing. Appears to attack based on how he reads opponents. Quick and disruptive spin move in either direction. Doesn’t have a tell when going to the spin move. Uses the spin move in different ways and rush paths. Gains ground using the spin move and gets to the frame of opponents. Shows some shake/deception on the speed rush. Presses inside to get around the outside shoulder on speed rushes. Will string rush moves together and attack both shoulders. Quick hands swiping on the speed rush. Effective rip move turning the corner. Impressive bend turning the corner and flattening at his size. Very strong straight-arm into the chest of offensive tackles as a rusher. Extends on the speed rush to keep opponents away and accelerate around the corner. Quick inside move. Great feel for where he is after making a rush move to close directly at the quarterback. Accurate reaching for the quarterback as they throw. Closes hard inside and gets his hands up in the quarterback’s face. Usually aligned on the left side of the formation but saw snaps on both sides. Experience playing in a two-point stance and with one or two hands in the ground. Instinctive and aware. Aggressive extending at the snap. Very strong disengaging on the edge after extending. Attacks the chest of blockers with two hands to engage and shed. Strong hands shedding in general. Strong wrapping up at the line of scrimmage. Aggressive getting inside as a run defender. Good quickness crashing down the line of scrimmage to defend inside runs. Quick into the backfield and strong tackling with a clear path to the ball. Shows quickness side stepping blocks. Effective tackling as the backside defender. Excellent play recognition defending outside runs. Tremendous hustle in sideline pursuit. Tough getting in on gang tackles. Good play recognition on screen passes. Often used as a five-technique. Used as a three-technique in short-yardage situations and had a great stop versus Indiana (2025).

Weaknesses

Gets upright and abandons technique as a run defender. Turns his back taking on blocks rather than staying square. Needs to be more prepared to hold his ground versus the run. Will lose leverage and get pushed back. Can get driven off the ball. Driven back several yards by Indiana fullback Riley Nowakowski (2025). Lacks control and driven laterally by down blocks when slanting inside. Less feel for positioning himself versus the run. Needs to avoid lowering his eyes taking on blocks. Has tackle attempts where he goes low and misses. Average twitch and athleticism to counter when blockers catch him clean in pass protection. Inconsistent burst off the ball. Knocked off balance when opponents connect accurately on an aggressive rush. Sudden change of direction can be limited trying to get the quarterback after winning inside. Average length for him frame.

Conclusion

Overall, Llewellyn is a disruptive edge defender with an advanced rush plan and specialization winning on spin moves. He needs to significantly improve his technique and learn how to play with strength versus the run, but Llewellyn can be a well-rounded starter at the next level.
