Strengths

Very natural ability as a pass-catcher. Great feet and overall quickness. Extremely efficient overall cuts and pacing as a route runner. Soft hands on underneath passes. Snatches the ball out of the air with his hands. Saw heavy slot usage. Quick and efficient release footwork shown on the perimeter. Crisp on slant routes from the slot and out wide. Fluid and deceptive on pivot routes from the slot. Will run pivot/zig routes effectively in either direction. Uses shake into the route versus cushion coverage. Extremely tough running into traffic on short/intermediate passes. Courageous to extend for intermediate throws out in front with a safety nearby. Catches the ball smoothly working over the middle. Secures passes at the intermediate level. Effective getting across the face of opponents on crossing routes. Gives a hard inside plant to fool defenders on corner routes. Fast running post routes from the slot. Able to accelerate to track and get downfield passes. Very strong hands with tremendous catch focus when contested. Terrific body control to play the ball in the air in traffic down the field. Highly impressive body control in general to adjust at his size. Crisp and efficient on curls from the perimeter. Calmly adjusts to get his feet down along the sideline. Good feel for being open on drag routes. Ran routes out of the backfield. Effective on bubble screens and quick screens from the slot. Great vision and elusiveness with the ball in his hands. Quick and balanced after the catch. Effective spin more. Used on end arounds and motion handoffs. Very effective following his blockers. Used as a wildcat quarterback. Impressive vision on outside runs. Very good arm talent and accuracy for trick plays. Showed he will make good decisions if nothing is there with the opportunity to throw. Excellent ability as a punt returner.

Weaknesses

Can get halted by accurate press jams. Can have trouble getting free from press coverage in general if he doesn’t win with a quick release. Limited effectiveness shown to stack vertically from the perimeter. On-field acceleration and speed don’t seem to match timed numbers. Seems inconsistent fully unleashing his speed with the ball and doesn’t explode past opponents with momentum.

Conclusion

Overall, Williams is a natural receiver and route runner with soft hands, toughness, body control, and quick feet. He profiles as an excellent complementary option for an NFL passing attack with the ability to play both in the slot and on the perimeter.
