LG continues to push the envelope in the television market, announcing its newest 2020 line of OLED TVs. The company is releasing a whopping 14 new LG OLED models this year, including “Real 8K” models:
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2020 – LG Electronics (LG), the world leader in OLED TVs, is raising the bar again in 2020 with 14 new LG OLED models led by three new art-inspired GX Gallery series 4K Ultra HD TVs, 88- and 77-inch class Real 8K models and an all-new OLED screen size – 48-inch. Unveiled at CES® 2020, the new LG OLED TVs – and new 8K and 4K LG NanoCell LCD TVs – are designed to deliver stunning picture quality and innovative design with upgraded performance and artificial intelligence-enabled features that bring movies, sports and video games to life like never before imagined.
At the heart of the latest 8K and 4K LG OLED and 8K LG NanoCell TVs are a number of advanced core technologies, most notably the new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor. This advanced processor leverages upgraded processing power and artificial intelligence deep learning algorithms to improve on LG’s renowned picture quality and enable a host of specialized features for various types of content including movies, games and sports, taking the user experience to new heights.
Starting with the basics, the B Series and C Series (now called BX and CX, according to LG’s press release) are again available in the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch sizes. This is the perfect target area for most people realistically looking for the best home theater experience possible. Prices are not yet available, but the LG OLED C9 65-inch model from last year is currently $2,500, for example, with lower prices during holiday sales. The LG OLED WX Wallpaper series is in the same realm as the BX and CX, but with a higher price for the flush-on-the-wall look.
Now, for the ultra-premium models:
-The GX Gallery Series is basically a television that doubles as a piece of art hanging on the wall.
-The LG SIGNATURE OLED R (model 65RX) is the futuristic “rollable” television that can roll in and out of its stand.
-And the LG OLED ZX Real 8K models are true 8K television that come in 77-inch and 88-inch sizes and “are among the first to earn the new CTA 8K Ultra HD logo.”
Finally, LG OLED is getting its smallest model yet, with the 48-inch CX (OLED48CX), which is a plus for people that want the perfect blacks of OLED in a smaller room or a lower price.
In addition to the 2020 OLED TVs, LG is also releasing NanoCellTVs with the “Real 8K” Nano99, Nano97, and Nano95, all in 65 inches or 75 inches.
The vast majority of people are not even going to think about spending the price of a luxury vehicle on a television like the 65RX or ZX. But the good news for everyone is that the prices of the more consumer-friendly televisions like the BX and CX series should continue to drop. Anything better than LG’s normal (yet premium) 4K OLEDs is basically way above-and-beyond if all you want to do is watch shows, movies, and sports instead of having your television as an art or conversation piece.
LG also promises its OLED lineup provides the “Ultimate Cinema Experience”, “Ultimate Game Experience”, and “Ultimate Sports Experience”, so it should be a fit for whatever you want to do with the television.
Also, the televisions include an exciting new “Filmmaker Mode”, which LG says is “supported by Hollywood’s leading directors, delivers images the way they intended” and “faithfully replicate the original vision of the director.”
LG has not announced release dates for this year’s OLED and NanoCell televisions.
Worthy investment. The CX.
Yup I have the C8, can’t imagine a picture being much better.
Looks awesome.
