2020 has not been a normal year, and that’s extended to Hollywood. Productions have been stopped and movie premieres have been delayed in recent months. Today’s Top Ten Tuesday picks the top movies that have been pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
10. F9
Original premiere date: May 22, 2020
New premiere date: April 2, 2021
The wait could be a good thing for the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, as fans have gotten a rapid fire of movies. Waiting should lead to more anticipation than usual.
9. The New Mutants
Original premiere date: April 3, 2020
New premiere date: August 28, 2020
A complicated release schedule is nothing new for The New Mutants, but hopefully the film can finally hit theaters later this month.
8. The French Dispatch
Original premiere date: July 24, 2020
New premiere date: TBD
The next eccentric film from director Wes Anderson was set to release last month, but it’s been delayed indefinitely as we wait out COVID-19.
7. A Quiet Place Part II
Original premiere date: March 8, 2020
New premiere date: April 23, 2021
Unfortunately, after spending big money on a Super Bowl ad this year, A Quiet Place Part II is delayed all the way until 2021.
6. The Woman in the Window
Original premiere date: May 15, 2020
New premiere date: TBD
Any Oscar hype for The Woman in the Window and Amy Adams in particular is now up in the air with the status of the movie to be determined. Netflix is a potential landing spot for the release.
5. Top Gun: Maverick
Original premiere date: June 24, 2020
New premiere date: July 2, 2021
Tom Cruise is back as “Maverick” after over three decades since the original Top Gun (1986), which is pretty stunning.
4. Wonder Woman 1984
Original premiere date: June 5, 2020
New premiere date: October 2, 2020
There’s been a lot of movement on the calendar for Wonder Woman 1984, but hopefully it can settle in and stay at its new October 2 release date.
3. No Time To Die
Original premiere date: April 10, 2020
New premiere date: November 20, 2020
It’s probably more fitting that No Time To Die will now premiere in November. Each of Daniel Craig’s previous Bond movies have premiered in the penultimate month of the year.
2. The Many Saints of Newark
Original premiere date: September 25, 2020
New premiere date: March 12, 2021
The lone film listed without a trailer, there’s been much secrecy around The Many Saints of Newark. The Sopranos sequel should be a hit when it hits the big screen next March.
1. Tenet
Original premiere date: July 17, 2020
New premiere date: September 3, 2020
Finally, Tenet had to take the No. 1 spot on the list. Director Christopher Nolan has been adamant that his latest film must debut in theaters, which may have set the tone for more movies not being released in video-on-demand over the past few months during the pandemic.

Can’t wait for Tenet.
Wes Anderson slightly weird…. works for him.
