Strengths

Thick and athletic build. Physical all-around play style. Rare change-of-direction skills for an interior defender. Great first-step quickness. Very strong upper body. Light on his feet. Always working to penetrate and is rarely moved at the point of attack. Consistently wins with rips and swims. Will dismantle multiple blocks in succession on his way to the ball. Plays with outstanding leverage. Impressive fluidity and bend at his size. Exceptional closing burst. Fast and disruptive crashing inside. Easily extends and sheds versus run blocks. Uses hands to grab and control opponents. Very physical taking on blockers. Aggressive against pullers. Extremely reliable tackler in the hole. Will effectively torpedo for a low tackle when needed. Hits the quarterback with force. Will use a spin to free himself. Can line up as a five-technique in passing situations. Comfortable roaming and rushing from a two-point stance. Shows athleticism getting up to deflect passes at the line of scrimmage. Has blocked multiple field goals throughout his career. Completely dominant for full games versus SEC competition.

Weaknesses

Less effective when he doesn’t get a good jump at the snap. Can be inconsistent diagnosing play action and misdirection. Struggled to disengage more with powerful guards. Doesn’t always track to the sideline at full speed. Fatigue seems to be an issue. Rushes were often stoned versus Tennessee (2022). Issued arrest warrant for speeding in racing incident that led to the death of a Georgia teammate and staff member.

Conclusion

Overall, Carter is a disruptive interior defender that will penetrate and wreck blocks with quickness, power, and physicality. As an ideal fit in an attacking 4-3 or 3-4, he should be one of the top defenders off the board in April based on the talent.
