Strengths

Extremely smooth natural receiver and route runner. Shifty overall player. Outstanding acceleration. Very good hands and snatches the ball out of the air. Exceptional catch focus at full speed. Dangerous on deep post routes. Deadly on out-and-up double moves. Gets his head around to really sell his initial break. Quick breaking off curls and comebacks. Crisp on hitch routes. Able to vary releases to win early both out wide and in the slot. Above-average speed. Knows how to stack/leverage defensive backs to get deep. Sets up opponents by slow playing a route before turning on the jets. Tracks the ball well and is smooth catching passes over the shoulder. Able to bring in body catches on his hip if needed. Impressive play strength at his size. Does a tremendous job of working back to the ball. High intelligence and great finding the hole in coverage when his quarterback buys time. Used on various pre-snap motions and alignments. Used on a bunch of quick screens. Tremendous vision and able to do damage after the catch. Good balance and elusiveness with the ball in his hands. Has experience as a punt returner (mostly in 2021).

Weaknesses

Thin overall build. Has some drops while being contacted at the catch point. Hands are less reliable when throws are slightly off target. Can be knocked down by contact/physicality as a route runner. Vertical releases can be tightened up (sometimes loops to avoid press). Doesn’t engage with physicality as a blocker.

Conclusion

Overall, Addison is a crisp route runner with high intelligence that can win vertically versus NFL defenders. The transition for him should be smooth after playing with two future starting NFL quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh) and Caleb Williams (USC).
