Strengths

Extremely fast and athletic. Excellent size and a well-built frame. Phenomenal burst. Quick feet for a bigger cornerback. Big-time recovery speed that can overcome issues with technique. Shows good fluidity in hips and transitions. Patient and poised early in press coverage. Stays on the hip of opponents versus slant routes. Quick to close off space when playing with a limited cushion. Quarterbacks come off drags and crosses because of his ability to undercut the route. Confidently mirrors vertical routes without grabbing. Exceptional awareness in zone coverage to anticipate a deep throw and retreat. Reads the quarterback’s eyes and almost seems to seek downfield throws. Excellent ball skills. Gets his head around to locate the deep ball and make a play on it. Can turn defense into offense on takeaways. Great leaping ability. Wraps up and is strong as a tackler. Shows physicality taking on blocks. Tremendous hustle. Mostly lined up at left cornerback but has played both sides.

Weaknesses

Needs to clean up overall coverage technique. Struggles to stick with crisper and more complex routes. Too slow getting out of side shuffle to play comeback-type routes. Inconsistent changing direction considering his speed and athleticism. Gets grabby when he doesn’t locate the ball. Struggles to anticipate and get through traffic. Would like to see him position himself better to avoid arm tackles. Beat twice vertically versus LSU (2022). Seemed to lose confidence in coverage down the stretch in 2022.

Conclusion

Overall, Ringo is a big and fast cornerback with high upside if he can improve his technique to tie it together with his athleticism. In a stacked cornerback class, Ringo should be considered at the end of Round 1 and can be a fit for any defensive scheme.
