Strengths
Prototype size with elite length. Very strong upper body and hands. Impressive overall athleticism. Keeps hands in position to engage as a pass protector. Smooth out of his stance in pass sets. Possesses natural anchor strength. Exceptional ability to snatch and anchor. Moves his feet well to stick with change of direction during the rush. Calmly slides his feet to handle delayed rushers. Length allows him to do enough to push rushers away from the quarterback if they get close. Able to cut off and capture inside moves when prepared for it. Great at using the momentum of opponents against them. Two-handed shoves are very strong. Great ability to square his shoulders on engagement. Keeps his feet under him on contact. Good ability to redirect on the second level. Plus acceleration and build-up speed. Very good mobility to get out in space and square up opponents. Smooth on pulls. Accurate hitting his marks on movement blocks. Full season starting at both left tackle and right guard. High character as the recipient of the 2022 Armed Forces Merit Award.
Weaknesses
Gets too upright as a run blocker. Not as effective striking lower to create leverage. Doesn’t overpower in the running game. Would like to see him connect earlier with his hands as a run blocker to avoid some around-the-back grabs. Has some upper bend/leaning issues that can be exposed by better rushers. Will overset or underset as a pass protector. Reaction time can be slow. Leaves himself open to quick inside counters and spins after speeding up his slide.

Conclusion
Overall, Johnson is a smooth offensive tackle that has an excellent foundation in pass protection with room to develop. Being able to add power and drive as a run blocker should increase Johnson’s appeal as a projected Round 1 target.
