Strengths

Natural receiver and football player. Superb catch focus and hand-eye coordination. Hands are big and soft. Tremendous ability to dive/extend for passes. Very quick to locate the ball and tracks it at a high level. Catches passes very smoothly. Holds onto the ball while absorbing contact. Terrific ability to high-point passes at his size. Hauls in throws on his back hip. Slides to come away with low throws. Will make spectacular catches (one-handed grab versus Michigan State in the snow in 2021). Cuts are very crisp. Quick throttling down on curl routes. Exceptional overall strength for his size. Shows no fear on in-breaking routes into traffic. Excellent feel for space through zone coverage. Uses his head to manipulate defenders on deeper routes. Played both in the slot and on the outside. Used in plenty of stack alignments and shows good timing on slants. Targeted on various quick screens. Has run angle routes out of the backfield. Great contact balance as a runner. Plus acceleration. Smart and elusive with the ball in his hands. Shows aggression as a blocker. Experience as a punt returner.

Weaknesses

Below-average height and catch radius. Average speed and explosiveness. Lacks separation burst out of breaks. Had some focus drops. Limited vertical production outside the numbers. Not challenged by a ton of press coverage.

Conclusion

Overall, Washington is a complete football player with great hands, toughness, and a natural feel for the game. He might not have the highest ceiling in the class, but Washington should be a very reliable No. 2 or No. 3 wideout for several years.
