Strengths

Superb combination of vision and patience. Excellent feet and feel in traffic. Gliding style in space that can be difficult to square up. Natural feel for maximizing yardage and will hop/hurdle. No-nonsense runner with exceptional strength. Will throw defenders off and stay on his feet. Makes decisive cuts to get downhill. Runs with tremendous physicality. Can lower his shoulder to truck opponents. Great power/determination to finish runs and push the pile forward. Tremendous vision and decisiveness behind the line of scrimmage. Very patient allowing pulling blockers to get out in front. Cuts are quick and efficient. Powerful stiff arm. Effective dead leg move to fake out defenders coming down to make a head-on tackle. Great balance to tightrope sideline. Very good ball security and will switch hands to protect the ball. Reliable as a pass-catcher. Saw snaps outside the numbers and in the slot. Former high school quarterback with plenty of experience running the wildcat. Terrific in pass protection. Strong on chips versus defensive ends. Used as a lead blocker in two-back sets. Can be used as a kick returner. Thrived in opportunities to be the feature back.

Weaknesses

Average speed and lacks explosiveness/twitch. Limited quickness and elusiveness. Will sometimes miss an opportunity to press runs more to the perimeter when he breaks the line of scrimmage. Hands are less impressive for tougher catches.

Conclusion

Overall, Johnson is a well-rounded runner with great vision, patience, and strength that profiles best as a 1B backfield option. The willingness to do the dirty work for an NFL offense should boost him in the eyes of coaches.
