Week 6 Fantasy Football Awards 2023

Team of the Week

QB: Tua Tagovailoa, MIA

This week doesn’t have a big output at quarterback yet (though it might change tonight), so Tagovailoa (22.48 fantasy points) barely edges out Jared Goff (22.42) to top the position. Miami went down 14-0 to the Panthers, but Tua and the offense quickly got hot, including 262 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

RB: Raheem Mostert, MIA

The focal-point of Mike McDaniel’s offense was Mostert—who rushed 17 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns while also catching three-of-three targets for 17 yards and another score. Now up to 11 total touchdowns in six games, Mostert is a must-start for as long as he’s healthy.

RB: Travis Etienne Jr., JAX

Heavy workloads continued for Etienne with 21 touches for 83 total yards—with two of his touches going for scores (including a 28-yard touchdown run). Jacksonville’s star back will now head to New Orleans (on a short week) and Pittsburgh before a Week 9 bye.

WR: Tyreek Hill, MIA

Hill had a 6/163/1 line on Sunday fueled by a 41-yard touchdown catch, and he’s in the midst of his best season yet with 814 receiving yards through six weeks—including an absurd 13.8 yards per target. The Eagles will have their hands full with Hill in Week 7.

WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET

After a week out with an abdomen injury, St. Brown made up for lost time in Sunday’s win by catching 12-of-15 targets for 124 yards and a touchdown. Averaging career-highs in receptions per game (7.6) and receiving yards per game (91.0), St. Brown will close out October with games against the Ravens and Raiders.

TE: Travis Kelce, KC

Kelce’s history of dominance versus Denver resumed last Thursday night with nine receptions (on nine targets) for 124 yards, and his 14.1 fantasy points per game puts him comfortably atop the position. The margin could increase with matchups against the Chargers and Broncos (again) over the next two weeks.

FLEX: Kyren Williams, LAR

Williams had just two carries in the first half of yesterday’s win over Arizona, but he exploded over the final 30 minutes—rushing 18 times for 154 yards and a touchdown to lead LA’s divisional victory. A top-five fantasy running back on the season, Williams will be an RB1 play next week against the Steelers.

D/ST: Vikings

Minnesota was flying around in Chicago, and the defense recorded five sacks, three takeaways, and a touchdown to pick up a low-scoring win. Brian Flores’ unit has rounded into form with 18.0+ fantasy points in two of the past three weeks.

K: Justin Tucker, BAL

Tucker entered Week 6 having zero performances with more than 10.0 fantasy points, but he proved himself to still be an elite option by hitting six field goals on his way to putting up 19.0 fantasy points. He’ll try to keep it going next week as the Lions come to town.

Surprise of the Week: Texans offense

Overall, the Texans didn’t put up huge numbers as an offense, but Dalton Schultz (4/61/1) had a great game in a difficult matchup, and Devin Singletary had a strong day with 12 carries for 58 yards (compared to 13 carries for 34 yards by Dameon Pierce). The backfield in particular will be worth watching closely as Houston takes on the struggling Panthers following a Week 7 bye.

Disappointment of the Week: Injuries

There fortunately doesn’t seem to be any season-ending issues, but Sunday was perhaps the worst day yet for injuries—with Justin Fields (hand), Christian McCaffrey (oblique), David Montgomery (ribs), and Deebo Samuel (shoulder) all going down. Jahan Dotson (zero receptions and a dropped long gain and/or touchdown) is another option, but injuries can’t be predicted and are tough to overcome.

Rookie of the Week: Michael Mayer

There weren’t many standout rookie showings in Week 6, but Mayer had his best game yet by catching five-of-six targets for 75 yards. Las Vegas leaning more on the former Notre Dame star should be a boost to the offense, and Mayer has a bunch of potential shootouts on the schedule the rest of the way.

Week 6 MVP: Raheem Mostert

De’Von Achane (knee) was looking like the preferred option for Miami before going down last week, but Mostert has also produced with the rookie coming on, and there is no denying the results as the NFL’s touchdown leader. Consider the veteran an RB1 option for the next three games and then at least a high-upside RB2 option when Achane is back.
