Netflix Announces ‘Receiver’ NFL Docuseries For 2024

Following last year’s successful Quarterback series on Netflix, the producers of Quarterback are moving to another position. Netflix announced that Receiver is coming later this year, following Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown during their 2023 journeys.

It was widely known that Peyton Manning, a producer on the project with his Omaha Productions, had trouble finding participants for the second year of Quarterback after Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota headlined the hit docuseries in Year 1. So, the show is pivoting to the receiver position, following four star wide receivers and All-Pro tight end George Kittle.

There are plenty of storylines to watch, including Adams dealing with a frustrating season as a team with the Raiders; Jefferson missing two months due to a hamstring injury; Samuel and Kittle heading to the Super Bowl and having it again end in heartbreak; and St. Brown being a key member of a surging Lions squad that made the NFC title game.

Sports docuseries are a hot item right now. Apple TV+ is coming off the heels of a highly discussed series featuring the rise and fall of the Patriots, The Dynasty. In 2020, the co-produced by ESPN and Netflix docuseries The Last Dance, following Michael Jordan’s career focusing on his final season with the Bulls, was one of the most celebrated ever. And Quarterback was a major success last year.

Receiver will release sometime this offseason, helping give fans a football fix as they await the 2024 NFL season kicking off in September.
