Top Ten Tuesday: 2017 Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween is just one week away, so we are going to give some 2017-relevant costume ideas for anyone that might be looking for some inspiration. This is an HBO-heavy list (mainly because of Game of Thrones), but that’s because their shows are so popular.

 

10. Pennywise

 

 

There will probably be a lot of people—maybe too many people—dressed as the frightening clown from It, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t if that’s what you were planning. Those who are able to get his creepy voice and mannerisms down the best would stand above the rest.

 

9. Man in Black

 

 

The Man in Black (portrayed by Ed Harris in Westworld) is already an iconic HBO character after just one season, and he’d be the perfect Halloween costume for those want a big payoff with little effort. Just be sure to choose the black hat.

 

8. Cersei Lannister

 

 

Cersei should be another popular costume choice for 2017, especially for those who crave power but don’t care much for keeping their word. This could also be a two-person idea if someone has the size to play the Mountain.

 

7. Dolores Abernathy

 

 

This is definitely a solid year for female characters, and Dolores from Westworld needs to be considered by anyone who watches the show. It’s impossible for anyone to replicate the tremendous acting of Evan Rachel Wood when she switches emotions on command, but the blue dress gets the job done.

 

6. Night King

 

 

You probably need to do a lot better than NBA star Carmelo Anthony did with his interpretation of the Night King, but if you can pull it off, you’ll be the most intimidating person in the room.

 

5. Harley Quinn

 

 

Our first character from the superhero world, Harley Quinn could be done in a variety of ways by both adults and children, but the best one would probably be Margot Robbie’s outfit straight out of Suicide Squad, as it’s the most current version of the character. Just stay away from the person wearing it if the Joker is around.

 

4. Daenerys Targaryen

 

 

Female Game of Thrones fans already had Cersei on the list, and they could also go with Arya, Sansa, Ygritte, or many other characters, but the platinum blond hair of Daenerys will probably outnumber the rest of them combined. The Mother of Dragons will probably be showing up at Halloween parties for many years beyond the show’s conclusion.

 

3. Batman

 

 

The Dark Knight is a stone-cold lock to be on any Halloween costume list, as everyone wants to be Batman. You could also team up with the next costume idea, and even the entire Justice League if you have enough willing friends.

 

2. Wonder Woman

 

 

Wonder Woman has always been a popular character, but the movie released earlier this year combined with the upcoming Justice League has given the iconic superhero new life. She’s only topped by one costume on our list.

 

1. Jon Snow

 

 

Game of Thrones probably has a little over a year left with just one season to go, so it’s only right that Jon Snow gets top billing here. Bonus points for having a direwolf companion like Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth did with Bryce Harper.
