2021 Fantasy Football Mock Draft 5.0: 12-Team, PPR (3-WR)

This week’s mock draft is for a 12-team, full PPR league with three starting WR spots (in addition to a normal FLEX). As always, we use the FantasyPros draft simulator, and you can check out previous weeks using the links below:

Mock 1.0: 12-team, 0.5 PPR

Mock 2.0: 12-team, Superflex PPR

Mock 3.0: 14-team, 0.5 PPR

Mock 4.0: 10-team, Non-PPR

Round 1

1.01: Christian McCaffrey, CAR RB

1.02: Dalvin Cook, MIN RB

1.03: Alvin Kamara, NO RB

1.04: Derrick Henry, TEN RB

1.05: Davante Adams, GB WR

1.06: Saquon Barkley, NYG RB

1.07: Ezekiel Elliott, DAL RB

1.08: Tyreek Hill, KC WR

1.09: Aaron Jones, GB RB

1.10: Austin Ekeler, LAC RB

1.11: Antonio Gibson, WAS RB

1.12: Jonathan Taylor, IND RB

Thoughts: Kamara is an easy pick for me with Michael Thomas (ankle) recently undergoing ankle surgery, as New Orleans will once again funnel the offense through the dual-threat back. He’s right behind Christian McCaffrey in full PPR leagues.

Round 2

2.01: Stefon Diggs, BUF WR

2.02: Calvin Ridley, ATL WR

2.03: Travis Kelce, KC TE

2.04: Joe Mixon, CIN RB

2.05: DeAndre Hopkins, ARI WR

2.06: Justin Jefferson, MIN WR

2.07: Keenan Allen, LAC WR

2.08: A.J. Brown, TEN WR

2.09: Darren Waller, LV TE

2.10: Nick Chubb, CLE RB

2.11: D.K. Metcalf, SEA WR

2.12: Terry McLaurin, WAS WR

Thoughts: Chubb being available at the end of Round 2—regardless of format—is insane, but I’ll gladly take advantage by pairing him with Kamara. Despite missing four games last year, Chubb scored a career-high 12 rushing touchdowns.

Round 3

3.01: Patrick Mahomes, KC QB

3.02: Najee Harris, PIT RB

3.03: Allen Robinson, CHI WR

3.04: George Kittle, SF TE

3.05: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, KC RB

3.06: Amari Cooper, DAL WR

3.07: Robert Woods, LAR WR

3.08: D’Andre Swift, DET RB

3.09: Chris Godwin, TB WR

3.10: CeeDee Lamb, DAL WR

3.11: Chris Carson, SEA RB

3.12: J.K. Dobbins, BAL RB

Thoughts: I thought about tripling up at running back and would have if Najee Harris was on the board, but Robinson should see plenty of volume in Chicago’s offense as a safe WR1 option. There should be more touchdown upside coming off just six scores in 2020.

Round 4

4.01: D.J. Moore, CAR WR

4.02: Diontae Johnson, PIT WR

4.03: David Montgomery, CHI RB

4.04: Julio Jones, TEN WR

4.05: Mike Evans, TB WR

4.06: Travis Etienne, JAX RB

4.07: Cooper Kupp, LAR WR

4.08: Josh Allen, BUF QB

4.09: Darrell Henderson, LAR RB

4.10: Lamar Jackson, BAL QB

4.11: Adam Thielen, MIN WR

4.12: Miles Sanders, PHI RB

Thoughts: This might be slightly early for Jackson because of how deep the position is, but coming away with Kamara/Chubb has me comfortable going for pure upside at quarterback.

Round 5

5.01: Kenny Golladay, NYG WR

5.02: Tee Higgins, CIN WR

5.03: Brandon Aiyuk, SF WR

5.04: Ja’Marr Chase, CIN WR

5.05: Tyler Lockett, SEA WR

5.06: Mike Davis, ATL RB

5.07: Odell Beckham Jr., CLE WR

5.08: Josh Jacobs, LV RB

5.09: T.J. Hockenson, DET TE

5.10: Chase Claypool, PIT WR

5.11: Kyler Murray, ARI QB

5.12: Courtland Sutton, DEN WR

Thoughts: Aiyuk is apparently off to a tremendous start in training camp, and the talent is certainly there for him to take a Year 2 leap after shining down the stretch as a rookie. Ideally, Jimmy Garoppolo will remain the starter to maximize the passing attack.

Round 6

6.01: D.J. Chark, JAX WR

6.02: Michael Thomas, NO WR

6.03: DeVonta Smith, PHI WR

6.04: Will Fuller, MIA WR

6.05: JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT WR

6.06: Corey Davis, NYJ WR

6.07: Robby Anderson, CAR WR

6.08: Myles Gaskin, MIA RB

6.09: Jerry Jeudy, DEN WR

6.10: Kyle Pitts, ATL TE

6.11: Mark Andrews, BAL TE

6.12: Tyler Boyd, CIN WR

Thoughts: Sticking with the upside approach of this draft, Pitts isn’t a normal rookie tight end, as he carries legitimate double-digit touchdown upside in Arthur Smith’s offense. Look for the No. 4 overall pick to be a mismatch nightmare from Day 1.

Round 7

7.01: Kareem Hunt, CLE RB

7.02: Dak Prescott, DAL QB

7.03: Chase Edmonds, ARI RB

7.04: Aaron Rodgers, GB QB

7.05: Deebo Samuel, SF WR

7.06: Dallas Goedert, PHI TE

7.07: Tyler Higbee, LAR TE

7.08: Russell Wilson, SEA QB

7.09: Javonte Williams, DEN RB

7.10: Justin Herbert, LAC QB

7.11: Curtis Samuel, WAS WR

7.12: Robert Tonyan, GB TE

Thoughts: I admittedly wanted Kareem Hunt to have a handcuff for Nick Chubb (especially because he carries standalone FLEX value), but in general, the drop off at tight end made it worth taking Pitts over him in Round 6. Instead, Edmonds should get plenty of pass-catching work in tandem with James Conner for Arizona’s backfield.

Round 8

8.01: Melvin Gordon, DEN RB

8.02: Laviska Shenault Jr., JAX WR

8.03: Antonio Brown, TB WR

8.04: Brandin Cooks, HOU WR

8.05: David Johnson, HOU RB

8.06: Michael Carter, NYJ RB

8.07: Tom Brady, TB QB

8.08: Jarvis Landry, CLE WR

8.09: Michael Gallup, DAL WR

8.10: James Robinson, JAX RB

8.11: Logan Thomas, WAS TE

8.12: Marquise Brown, BAL WR

Thoughts: Again, I get sniped hoping for Marquise Brown to stack with Lamar Jackson in Round 9, but it’s important to not stray from the board too much; I have James Robinson as a better value than Brown, so he was the pick.

Round 9

9.01: Leonard Fournette, TB RB

9.02: James Conner, ARI RB

9.03: Damien Harris, NE RB

9.04: Raheem Mostert, SF RB

9.05: Trey Sermon, SF RB

9.06: Ronald Jones II, TB RB

9.07: Rashaad Penny, SEA RB

9.08: DeVante Parker, MIA WR

9.09: Zack Moss, BUF RB

9.10: Kenyan Drake, LV RB

9.11: Tarik Cohen, CHI RB

9.12: Tony Pollard, DAL RB

Thoughts: The roster still needs a third wide receiver to fill out the starting lineup, but other teams passing on running backs allows me to get another strong value in Harris—who was recently talked up by Bill Belichick.

Round 10

10.01: Jaylen Waddle, MIA WR

10.02: Noah Fant, DEN TE

10.03: Jamaal Williams, DET RB

10.04: Michael Pittman Jr., IND WR

10.05: Mike Williams, LAC WR

10.06: Henry Ruggs III, LV WR

10.07: J.D. McKissic, WAS RB

10.08: Darnell Mooney, CHI WR

10.09: Nelson Agholor, NE WR

10.10: Marvin Jones, JAX WR

10.11: Tre’Quan Smith, NO WR

10.12: Mecole Hardman, KC WR

Thoughts: This round was an absolute bloodbath in terms of wideouts I wanted to target at the turn here—including Tre’Quan Smith and Mecole Hardman as my top candidates for Round 11. Jones has a real shot to be the Jaguars’ No. 1 target, though, and he came much cheaper than D.J. Chark or Laviska Shenault Jr.

Round 11

11.01: Cole Beasley, BUF WR

11.02: Nyheim Hines, IND RB

11.03: Jalen Hurts, PHI QB

11.04: Russell Gage, ATL WR

11.05: Irv Smith Jr., MIN TE

11.06: Sterling Shepard, NYG WR

11.07: Ryan Tannehill, TEN QB

11.08: Phillip Lindsay, HOU RB

11.09: Jalen Reagor, PHI WR

11.10: T.Y. Hilton, IND WR

11.11: Devin Singletary, BUF RB

11.12: Trevor Lawrence, JAX QB

Thoughts: Cole Beasley was the last receiver target I wanted at the turn, so with him off the board, Hurts is the best value and a potential trade chip if he plays as well as hoped. There should still be some quality options over the final few rounds with wideout being deeper than ever.

Round 12

12.01: Matthew Stafford, LAR QB

12.02: Mike Gesicki, MIA TE

12.03: A.J. Dillon, GB RB

12.04: Alexander Mattison, MIN RB

12.05: Latavius Murray, NO RB

12.06: Joe Burrow, CIN QB

12.07: Tevin Coleman, NYJ RB

12.08: Gus Edwards, BAL RB

12.09: Rams D/ST

12.10: Sammy Watkins, BAL WR

12.11: Steelers D/ST

12.12: Christian Kirk, ARI WR

Thoughts: As stated, I missed out on “Hollywood” Brown, but Watkins would seem to have just as good of a chance to be the team’s WR1. The veteran is extremely undervalued as a late-round selection.

Round 13

13.01: Jamison Crowder, NYJ WR

13.02: John Brown, LV WR

13.03: Emmanuel Sanders, BUF WR

13.04: James White, NE RB

13.05: Buccaneers D/ST

13.06: Jonnu Smith, NE TE

13.07: Rob Gronkowski, TB TE

13.08: Evan Engram, NYG TE

13.09: Cole Kmet, CHI TE

13.10: Gabriel Davis, BUF WR

13.11: Ravens D/ST

13.12: Hunter Henry, NE TE

Thoughts: My original strategy was to load up on young, high-upside receivers in the late rounds, but this draft shows that you have to be ready to adjust (and really shouldn’t be locked into an approach). Sanders mixes an ability to uncover on short routes and vertical speed to get deep.

Round 14

14.01: Salvon Ahmed, MIA RB

14.02: Marlon Mack, IND RB

14.03: Matt Ryan, ATL QB

14.04: Kirk Cousins, MIN QB

14.05: Blake Jarwin, DAL TE

14.06: Larry Rountree III, LAC RB

14.07: Deshaun Watson, HOU QB

14.08: Kenneth Gainwell, PHI RB

14.09: Elijah Moore, NYJ WR

14.10: Giovani Bernard, TB RB

14.11: Chuba Hubbard, CAR RB

14.12: Austin Hooper, CLE TE

Thoughts: Bernard is set to have a big role in Tampa Bay’s offense via pass-game and two-minute work, so he’s an overlooked FLEX option in full PPR formats.

Round 15

15.01: Sony Michel, NE RB

15.02: Tua Tagovailoa, MIA QB

15.03: Terrace Marshall Jr., CAR WR

15.04: Darrynton Evans, TEN RB

15.05: Adam Trautman, NO TE

15.06: Parris Campbell, IND WR

15.07: Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET WR

15.08: Baker Mayfield, CLE QB

15.09: Derek Carr, LV QB

15.10: Rashod Bateman, BAL WR

15.11: Jakobi Meyers, NE WR

15.12: Denzel Mims, NYJ WR

Thoughts: The 3-WR format had me wanting at least one young, high-upside wideout on the bench, and Marshall Jr. certainly fits the billing. It wouldn’t be surprising if the rookie had a Chase Claypool-like impact with double-digit touchdowns on a crowded depth chart.

Round 16

16.01: Washington D/ST

16.02: Carson Wentz, IND QB

16.03: Justin Tucker, BAL K

16.04: Colts D/ST

16.05: 49ers D/ST

16.06: Patriots D/ST

16.07: Bills D/ST

16.08: Darrel Williams, KC RB

16.09: Ryan Fitzpatrick, WAS QB

16.10: Saints D/ST

16.11: Rondale Moore, ARI WR

16.12: Chargers D/ST

Round 17

17.01: Harrison Butker, KC K

17.02: Younghoe Koo, ATL K

17.03: Wil Lutz, NO K

17.04: Greg Zuerlein, DAL K

17.05: Tyler Bass, BUF K

17.06: Jason Sanders, MIA K

17.07: Matt Prater, ARI K

17.08: Rodrigo Blankenship, IND K

17.09: Robbie Gould, SF K

17.10: Chiefs D/ST

17.11: Jason Myers, SEA K

17.12: Ryan Succop, TB K

Final Roster
