Week 17 Fantasy Football Rankings

These rankings will be updated throughout the week up until Sunday at 1 PM ET for injuries or other reasons, especially because we won’t have a good idea of who is or isn’t playing until later in the week. [Note: our rankings are for standard (non-PPR) leagues, but you can simply move guys up or down based on how many passes they are expected to catch]

QUARTERBACK

1. Tom Brady (v NYJ)

2. Russell Wilson (v ARI)

3. Cam Newton (@ ATL)

4. Drew Brees (@ TB)

5. Philip Rivers (v OAK)

6. Matt Ryan (v CAR)

7. Jimmy Garoppolo (@ LAR)

8. Kirk Cousins (@ NYG)

9. Matthew Stafford (v GB)

10. Case Keenum (v CHI)

11. Dak Prescott (@ PHI)

12. Patrick Mahomes (@ DEN)

13. Joe Flacco (v CIN)

16. Tyrod Taylor (@ MIA)

17. Derek Carr (@ LAC)

18. Jameis Winston (v NO)

20. Jay Cutler (v BUF)

21. Brett Hundley (@ DET)

22. Blake Bortles (@ TEN)

23. Eli Manning (v WAS)

24. Landry Jones (v CLE)

25. Paxton Lynch (v KC)

Tom Brady has thrown an interception in five-straight games, but I would be surprised if he made it six in a row as New England looks to earn home-field advantage in the AFC… Ben Roethlisberger probably won’t have to pass much against the winless Browns, but he could quickly put up numbers at home… Russell Wilson should throw for a lot more than 93 yards this week with Seattle looking to earn a playoff spot… For the Seahawks to get in, they need Cam Newton and the Panthers to knock off Atlanta, and Newton is an upside QB1 to close out the regular season… Jared Goff has a 28:7 touchdown-interception ratio this season… Hopefully the Falcons open up the playbook and get Tevin Coleman the ball as a receiver, which would definitely help Matt Ryan in a win-and-in scenario… Jimmy Garoppolo is 4-0 with the previously one-win 49ers… Kirk Cousins could be playing his final game as a Redskin on Sunday, and he’s a volatile, back-end QB1 option in a good matchup with inconsistent playmakers… Matthew Stafford and the Lions aren’t playing for anything in Week 17, but he’s torched the Packers so is worth a look for those attempting to win a fantasy title… Nick Foles is a risky play if the Eagles pull or don’t play the starters this week, but even if the defense sits for Philadelphia, Dak Prescott isn’t a great option with multiple interceptions in four of the past six games… I like Jacoby Brissett and Brett Hundley better than Derek Carr and Jameis Winston to finish off the fantasy season… Bold owners shouldn’t waste any time playing Patrick Mahomes if he gets the start with Kansas City locked into the fourth seed.

58. Brandon Bolden (v NYJ)

59. Fitzgerald Toussaint (v CLE)

60. Wendell Smallwood (v DAL)

As of now, Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt aren’t ranked, but they’d obviously make the rankings if they aren’t rested in Week 17… Le’Veon Bell needs to be in lineups, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Pittsburgh scale back his workload against Cleveland… Fresh off reaching his first 1,000-yard season, Melvin Gordon and the Chargers will look to win and get some help to make the postseason… Ezekiel Elliott will probably run angry with nothing to lose and potentially playing against backups… Christian McCaffrey should be featured as Carolina looks to win the NFC South with a win and a Saints loss… Latavius Murray is a good bet to find the end zone after coming off another 20+ touches… Dion Lewis was great last Sunday, and he’s an RB1/RB2 option whether or not James White returns… Devonta Freeman could lose goal-line work—and work in general—to Tevin Coleman after a key fumble last week; both are RB2 options, but fantasy owners choosing between the two might be wise to play Coleman if they need a big game… Derrick Henry should get a start with DeMarco Murray injured, and Tennessee will need him to play well as they look to clinch a playoff berth… I keep thinking it’s going to end, but fantasy owners might as well go with C.J. Anderson and his heavy workloads as a low-end RB2 option… Wayne Gallman is a great play for those searching for a replacement for their resting starter… Alfred Blue looked really good on Christmas Day, and he’s worth considering as a FLEX… Thomas Rawls also looked good in Week 16, but he has a low floor with an unstable role.

54. Dontrelle Inman (@ MIN)

55. Trent Taylor (@ LAR)

56. Mack Hollins (v DAL)

57. Eric Decker (v JAC)

58. Jakeem Grant (v BUF)

59. Geronimo Allison (@ DET)

60. Kenny Stills (v BUF)

Julio Jones had a 300-yard game against the Panthers last year, and he will look to do it again as Atlanta fights for a playoff spot… Keenan Allen is too shifty for Oakland to cover on Sunday… Brandin Cooks had a rough stretch against tough corners, but he’s an elite WR1 against the Jets… JuJu Smith-Schuster is equally spectacular at catching passes and celebrating touchdowns… Larry Fitzgerald is a must-start that will probably go out with a bang in perhaps his final NFL game… Devin Funchess has disappointed over the past two weeks, but he remains a low-end WR1 option… T.Y. Hilton needs 48 yards to reach 1,000 yards for the fifth-straight season, which is an extremely impressive accomplishment without Andrew Luck… Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods are both quality WR2 options against the Niners… Josh Gordon should be fed targets as Cleveland gets one more chance at a win… Doug Baldwin should avoid Patrick Peterson in the slot… DeVante Parker gave Buffalo some trouble two weeks ago, and he’s a FLEX play to conclude the fantasy season… We’ll see where Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole, and Nelson Agholor land in the rankings on Sunday, but right now I have them all as high-upside, low-floor options assuming they play for about a half… I wouldn’t trust Michael Crabtree or Amari Cooper in Week 17… Despite being a part-time player all year, Chris Godwin has a chance to reach 500 yards as a rookie, and he’ll try to find the end zone for his first touchdown with a prime opportunity to do it against the Saints… John Brown scored in his return last Sunday, and he could beat the Seattle defense deep this week.

22. Jermaine Gresham (@ SEA)

23. Brent Celek (v DAL)

24. Demetrius Harris (@ DEN)

Rob Gronkowski missed two games and is still going to easily finish as the top-scoring tight end again… Jimmy Graham needs more than one reception if Seattle is going to make the playoffs… Greg Olsen will look to play like he did two weeks ago with a potential chance to win the NFC South… Trey Burton is a solid TE1 if Zach Ertz rests in Week 17… Delanie Walker could get more chances in the red zone if DeMarco Murray is out… Antonio Gates still has some left in the tank and wants to make sure this isn’t his final career game… Vernon Davis was shockingly held to zero receptions in the first meeting with the Giants, but he should remain a borderline TE1… Jesse James and Vance McDonald are both worth looks against the Browns.
