Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings

These rankings will be updated throughout the week up until Sunday at 1 PM ET for injuries or other reasons. [Note: our rankings are for standard (non-PPR) leagues, but you can simply move guys up or down based on whether or not they are expected to catch passes]

Even after completing just 44.4% of his passes for 267 yards and no scores in Week 1, Tom Brady is on pace for 5,824 yards, 43 touchdowns, and zero interceptions this season… Aaron Rodgers has uncharacteristically thrown a pick in three-straight games, but he should have no issues with the Bears on Thursday night… Drew Brees is going to torch the Dolphins in London, and Jay Cutler is a streaming option, as Miami will run a hurry-up offense and need to keep up with him… Russell Wilson was able to get going against an unimposing Tennessee pass rush, and he should have no troubles with Indianapolis… Philip Rivers is in a prime bounce back spot against the Eagles… Cam Newton failed against the Saints, so maybe it’s time to bench him; if you want to play him again, the Patriots are allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks… Jared Goff, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton, and Tyrod Taylor are all streaming options in good matchups… Matthew Stafford, Ben Roethlisberger, Derek Carr, and Jameis Winston should be avoided in difficult matchups.

Jay Ajayi hurt fantasy owners last week, but I think a lot of strange things happened due to national anthem protests and players not being completely focused; he should be this week as he returns to his homeland in London and is the top running back play of Week 4… Kareem Hunt would arguably be the first-overall pick in a fantasy draft held today… Ezekiel Elliott should have his best game of the season against the weak Los Angeles run defense… Unfortunately not many people are talking about it due to politics, but Jordan Howard put on perhaps the performance of the year as he played with a painful shoulder injury and carried the Bears; he’s an every-week RB1, but a low-end one with game flow and workload concerns off a short week…  Joe Mixon is now a high-upside RB2 after Cincinnati committed to him last week, and they hurry-up offense under new OC Bill Lazor will only help… Christian McCaffrey is going to be a machine until Greg Olsen returns, but New England might try to take him away; still, he needs to be in lineups… Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman have a tough matchup, but Freeman is getting a bunch of touches and Coleman is making the most of his… Chris Carson is on the RB2 map in a game the Seahawks should dominate at home… DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry are both low-end RB2/FLEX options, as Murray had the 75-yard touchdown, but Henry otherwise might have been more effective against Seattle… Tarik Cohen is a FLEX in standard leagues and an RB2 in PPR leagues, as he could get a heavier workload in a game the Bears should trail… Ameer Abdullah has touch totals of 18, 17, and 17 through three weeks… Jamaal Charles has been really impressive this year, including averaging 6.2 yards per carry in Week 3… I still have Mark Ingram as a low-end RB2, but I feel like Sunday might be a big Adrian Peterson game; he’s a high-upside FLEX option, but you might have more reliable options.

Last week was a great sign for A.J. Green’s rest-of-season outlook; he’s the top play this week against Cleveland… Julio Jones should go off against Buffalo’s smaller cornerbacks… Last season, the Bears routinely double-teamed Jordy Nelson in Week 7 and held him to nine yards, but allowed three Packers to each catch double-digit passes; he went for 7/124 in the next matchup… Michael Thomas should play away from Byron Maxwell enough to have his best game of the season against a weak secondary… Hopefully you had Sammy Watkins in your lineup last week; he gets a banged-up Cowboys secondary and should explode again… DeVante Parker is an every-week WR1/WR2… This is Alshon Jeffery’s best matchup of the season, as the Chargers are thin behind top corner Casey Hayward, whom is just 5’11”… A couple touchdowns saved Dez Bryant from a rough early-season schedule, and he’s now a weekly WR2… Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen might be less reliable with Sam Bradford out, but the offense is working wonders so far… Keep an eye on the status of Kelvin Benjamin (knee), but he’s tough to bench against New England in a game the Panthers should be trailing… Pierre Garcon might get the Patrick Peterson treatment this week, but he’s still a FLEX option… Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree should be better than last week when they combined for 13 yards, but you should think about benching them in Denver… Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin are worth looks against Philly… Nelson Agholor will be a star if the Eagles feature him… Willie Snead returns from his suspension in a good spot, but it might be wise to keep him on the bench for at least a week… Terrelle Pryor is on pace for 53 catches, 619 yards, and no touchdowns.

24. Jesse James (@ BAL)

. . .

Rob Gronkowski looked OK coming off a Week 2 groin injury… Travis Kelce is in for a bounce back after being held to one yard against the Chargers… Coby Fleener makes a surprise appearance in the top-three with a touchdown in two of out three games and a matchup with Miami… Charles Clay looks like Tyrod Taylor’s favorite target, and the Bills will need to score points in Atlanta… Hunter Henry has a seven-catch, 80-yard performance sandwiched by a couple zero-target games; at 0-3, I think the Chargers will realize they need to get him involved… Jordan Reed is a risky option, especially with Washington playing on MNF… Even at a struggling tight end position, Martellus Bennett is borderline droppable.
