Every year, some fantasy football owners put as much thought into their team name as they do their draft strategy, and we try to keep it fresh with our recommendations—so favorites from last year like “Joshenheimer” and “Quad Squad” don’t make the cut in this article (but can certainly still be used!). A few custom logos are also included below.
10. The Last of Gus: Part II
One of many television references on the list, this is a play on HBO’s The Last of Us series (based on the video game), and it also fits with Gus Edwards entering the second part of his career by going from Baltimore to Los Angeles.
9. Starvin’ Marvin in Arizona
Turning back the clock a bit to early South Park episodes, Marvin Harrison Jr. has landed with the Cardinals in Arizona (rather than going to space). And while the rookie wideout might not be stealing any alien ships, he does have alien-like ability at six-foot-three.
8. Mister Malik Nabershood
There are plenty of directions you can go with Malik Nabers’ name, but this is another classic that could have fantasy owners singing on Sunday mornings like Mister Rogers—whether it be for joy of how well he’s doing or rhetorically asking if he will score some fantasy points.
7. Nix Feet Under
“Seal Team Nix” is another option for rookie quarterback Bo Nix, but sticking with the television theme (including a potential logo), this could be used by someone that wants to take a shot at their fantasy football rival. “Burying the competition” is a simple yet clever team motto, too.
6. The Rise of Rome
Although the fall of Rome obviously gets talked about more, this is about the start of Rome Odunze’s career—who can also “rise” above the rim to make plays for the Bears and fantasy teams.
5. Bowers Fury
It was tough to turn down “Bowers Castle” as a name, but anyone who watched Brock Bowers at Georgia knows the kind of tackle-breaking fury he brings to the table, so that gets the edge.
4. Every Second Down Counts
The Bear is one of the most popular shows on TV, so a play on the iconic “Every Second Counts” sign makes for a great generic team name—and maybe your guys will lock in on second downs if you use the name.
3. Bijan al Gaib
“Lisan al Gaib” is essentially the term for “messiah” in the Dune universe, and Bijan Robinson has those kind of expectations for anyone spending an early first-round pick on him. Stilgar’s face as he looks on in amazement at Paul Atreides makes for an easy logo.
2. Mahomeslander
This is a name that probably should have been used in the past, but Patrick Mahomes’ powers have continued to reach new heights coming off his third Super Bowl victory—striking fear in opponents like Homelander does to anyone he interacts with in The Boys.
1. Shōtgun
“Shōtgun”—based on FX’s hit drama Shōgun—is both timely and able to be used for any quarterback, and it’s also a very original name to consider. The late-afternoon games throughout the fall should give us plenty of crimson skies.
