Fantasy Football Ranking Changes After Week 2 of Preseason Action

Cole Beasley has requested permission to seek a trade.

This is pretty stunning considering how well Beasley has played for Buffalo, a team that should be contending for a Super Bowl again next season. But perhaps Beasley, who has 82 receptions in each of the past two seasons, feels his role might be set for a scale-back after the emergence of guys like Isaiah McKenzie and Gabriel Davis on offense. Bills general manager Brandon Beane told NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that the team would welcome Beasley back to the team, so we’ll see if anything comes of this request.

Amari Cooper is “likely” to be released, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The move is expected to occur before the start of the new league year, as Cooper is due $20 million in fully guaranteed money later this month. The report seems a bit speculative, but we had been anticipating Cooper to be released following another disappointing finish for Dallas as a team. Turning 28 in the summer, the former first-round pick should have no problems landing a high-money deal elsewhere, while the Cowboys could try to re-sign Michael Gallup and perhaps even Cedrick Wilson Jr. This news is also a good sign for CeeDee Lamb’s outlook as the clear focal-point of the passing attack in 2022, and we could see Dallas target speed at some point in the draft.

Blake Jarwin is recovering from hip surgery, according to Michael Gehlken.

The procedure is said to be “very uncommon” for an active NFL player, and he is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2022 season. This news is especially notable with Dalton Schultz set to hit free agency, so the franchise tag could be a more likely scenario now. It’s also notable that this is a strong rookie class with several high-quality options at the position that could be selected on Day 2.

The Giants are releasing Devontae Booker, according to multiple reports.

Booker ran well for the Giants last season, carrying 145 times for 593 yards and two touchdowns for a struggling team, but the franchise is continuing to make moves in an effort to improve the cap situation for 2022. The veteran Booker shouldn’t have much trouble landing with another team this offseason.

The Giants are releasing Kyle Rudolph.

General manager Joe Schoen has openly talked about how bad of a situation the cap is in for New York, so this isn’t a surprise after the veteran was signed last offseason. With former first-round pick Evan Engram set to hit free agency, the Giants could have almost an entirely new room at tight end in 2022. Rudolph shouldn’t have a problem landing elsewhere if he wants to continue playing entering his age-32/33 season.
