According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jimmy G is expected to be out until the summer, meaning he’s set to be out until training camp. Also, Schefter says this will not affect Garoppolo’s trade status, and that he is “likely” to be traded this month. This surgery is obviously an indication of what Garoppolo was playing through at the end of the season and during a deep playoff run. Where Garoppolo lands this offseason is one of the most mysterious and intriguing storylines to watch in the coming weeks.

Dak Prescott had a cleanup surgery on his left shoulder.
The procedure is not expected to impact the offseason for Prescott, and the bigger issue for Dallas will be reshaping the team some this offseason to gear up for what they hope will be a deeper postseason run in 2022. Amari Cooper and his standing at a large cap number—with Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson set to hit free agency—is a storyline to watch.
The Panthers extended Ian Thomas.
Thomas, who was set to become a free agent this offseason, is staying with Carolina on a new three-year deal. Thomas had 18 receptions for 188 yards last season, and he’s also a plus as a blocker at the position. Led by Tommy Tremble and Thomas, the Panthers are in a good spot at tight end ahead of free agency and the draft.
Joe Burrow is dealing with a sprained MCL.
Burrow suffered the injury late in Super Bowl LVI and played through it, and he should be fully healthy with some time to rest. The priority for Cincinnati this offseason will be building up the offensive line to match the firepower they have around Burrow at the skill-positions.
D.K. Metcalf recently underwent foot surgery, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It was a procedure to remove a screw from a previous surgery, so it’s a relatively minor issue that shouldn’t impact him for training camp. We had assumed Metcalf was bothered by the foot injury this season as he struggled for a large chunk of the year, but assuming Russell Wilson remains in Seattle, he should be viewed as a clear WR1 option in redraft leagues for 2022.
