Join now >Emmanuel Sanders (knee) is inactive for Week 17.
Sanders seemed likely to play, but it was reported this morning that he’d be out, and that’s the case. Gabriel Davis will be in line for increased targets and is a strong FLEX option, while Isaiah McKenzie should continue to have a role despite Cole Beasley returning. We’ll see if Sanders returns by next week for the season finale.
The Colts activated Carson Wentz from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Wentz benefits from the NFL and NFLPA changing their protocols on all players including those unvaccinated, and he fortunately won’t miss any games after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. It’s good to hear Wentz is feeling fine, and he’ll be out there for tomorrow’s Week 17 matchup with the Raiders.
Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) has been activated from injured reserve.
McKinnon could have a role tomorrow with Clyde Edwards-Helaire (collarbone) out, but we’d expect Derrick Gore to handle most of the work behind Darrel Williams. The veteran has been out since the end of November.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (collarbone) ruled out for Week 17.
Edwards-Helaire isn’t traveling with the team to Cincinnati, which this isn’t a surprise, and he could be out until the postseason. Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore will handle most of the work for Kansas City this week, with the former being a strong RB2 and the latter being a quality FLEX.
Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is officially doubtful for Week 17.
Things were trending this direction after it was made known that Jimmy G was dealing with a fractured thumb along with a torn ligament. Rookie Trey Lance will make his second career start this Sunday against the Texans, and now the Niners will hope that Garoppolo can heal up in time for Week 18 and/or a potential playoff appearance.
