Week 2 Fantasy Football Awards 2024

Team of the Week

QB: Kyler Murray, ARI

Murray and the Cardinals were totally dominant in a win over the Rams, and that included tremendous efficiency through the air with 266 yards and three touchdowns on just 21 attempts. The dynamic quarterback also added five carries for 59 yards as a runner, and Murray comfortably leads all passers with 28.54 fantasy points heading into Monday Night Football.

RB: Alvin Kamara, NO

The Saints have been a machine through two weeks, and Kamara is the focal point of the offense—following up 20 touches for 110 yards and a score in the opener with 22 touches for 180 yards and four touchdowns in the 44-19 victory over Dallas. We’ll see how the offensive line performs in a tougher matchup next week against Philadelphia, but Kamara is looking like a high-end RB1.

RB: James Cook, BUF

Before it was done by Alvin Kamara yesterday, Cook was the first running back to record three touchdowns in the first half this week—cruising to 95 total yards and the scores on just 12 touches. Rookie runner Ray Davis is a name to keep in mind, but Cook doesn’t need a ton of opportunities to produce and continues to get better in Year 3.

WR: Marvin Harrison Jr., ARI

The Cardinals making a point to get Harrison the ball was expected after the rookie was limited to just one catch in his NFL debut, and he certainly didn’t disappoint on the increased targets—quickly scoring twice on his way to a 4/130/2 line. Harrison investors should feel confident again in his outlook as a borderline WR1/WR2.

WR: Malik Nabers, NYG

Nabers is beating himself up over a costly drop on fourth down that might have won the game for New York, but he showed his potential all afternoon against Washington—catching ten-of-18 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown. The next two weeks will be tougher (@ CLE, v DAL), but Nabers’ talent can overcome it if he’s featured like he was in Week 2.

TE: George Kittle, SF

San Francisco struggled with the aggressiveness of the Vikings yesterday, but Kittle was able to produce with seven receptions (on eight targets) for 76 yards and a touchdown. The placement of Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) on injured reserve could make Kittle more of a consistent factor in the passing attack to boost his weekly outlook.

FLEX: De’Von Achane, MIA

There was question about Achane’s status heading into last Thursday night with an ankle injury on a short week, but he gave the “thumbs up” early on and darted his way to 26.0 fantasy points on a whopping 29 touches. The Dolphins will need to rely on Achane both as a runner and receiver if Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) misses time, so his high-upside RB1 standing is secure no matter who is under center.

D/ST: Houston Texans

The Texans and Bills each had 16.0 fantasy points this week, but we’ll give the nod to Houston after they recorded seven sacks and limited Chicago to just 205 total yards in the primetime win. Houston also intercepted Caleb Williams twice, and it was a nice bounce back after struggling in the opener.

K: Austin Seibert, WAS

Seibert did all the scoring for Washington in a 21-18 win over the Giants—nailing seven field goals (with six from less than 40 yards) to score 22.0 fantasy points. Not bad for a guy that just joined the team less than a week ago.

Surprise of the Week: Quentin Johnston

Johnston flashed in Week 1, and he enjoyed a full-blown breakout yesterday with a 5/51/2 line on six targets. Talent has never been in question for the former TCU standout, and the Chargers have clearly succeeded in building up his confidence after a trying rookie campaign; Johnston is suddenly a fantasy factor ahead of Week 3.

Disappointment of the Week: Travis Kelce

It was another week that included major disappointments to begin 2024—with the struggles mostly coming for passing attacks and weapons around the league. Kelce is the headliner with just one reception (on three targets) for five yards in addition to a one-yard carry, and it comes on the heels of an opener where he was limited to three receptions for 34 scoreless yards. An explosion will come soon, but Kansas City’s passing attack now seems to revolve around Rashee Rice.

Rookie of the Week: Marvin Harrison Jr.

The 27.0 fantasy points for Harrison made him the No. 4 overall scorer on the week, and both of his touchdowns were highlight plays that showed the natural athletic talent for the rookie at six-foot-three. The performance was also a lesson for those who might have benched Harrison out of frustration from Week 1 to not overreact.

Week 2 MVP: Alvin Kamara

Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is going to have nightmares about Kamara with ten touchdowns over the past two games against him—and there are unfortunately some fantasy owners out there that faced Kamara in both the games (the other being a six-touchdown explosion versus Minnesota on Christmas Day in the fantasy playoffs). Again, the 29-year-old appears to have regained his high-end RB1 status in Klint Kubiak’s offense.
