Team of the Week
QB: Jared Goff, DET
Russell Wilson gave Goff a run for his money, but Detroit’s offense firmly got back on track in a blowout win over Chicago—with their quarterback completing 23-of-28 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns. Although the Ravens will be a difficult matchup next Monday night, Goff will be worth low-end QB1 consideration in a high-powered attack.
RB: Jonathan Taylor, IND
The Colts fed Taylor in an upset win over the Broncos yesterday, as Vance Joseph’s defense had no answers for the superstar runner—who turned 27 touches into 215 yards and a touchdown. Indianapolis getting excellent quarterback play from Daniel Jones only makes Taylor even better as a clear RB1 option.
RB: James Cook, BUF
Cook ripped through the Jets with 21 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns to help get Buffalo to 2-0, and he showed both the valuable short-yardage role with a one-yard score and the big-play ability with a 44-yard touchdown. Look for Cook to stay hot against the Dolphins on Thursday night.
WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET
The Lions seemed to have a little more motivation coming off a loss in Week 1 and facing former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson after he went to the Bears—and St. Brown was the engine of the offense with a 9/115/3 line. St. Brown even got a traditional carry out of the backfield (adding two attempts for seven yards as a runner overall), and it was a monster bounce-back performance after four receptions for 45 yards in the opener.
WR: Malik Nabers, NYG
Star cornerback DaRon Bland being out for the Cowboys was a boost, and Nabers took full advantage with nine receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a shootout loss to Dallas. Through two games, Nabers has target totals of 12 and 13, and he’ll be a high-end WR1 next Sunday night against the Chiefs.
TE: Tucker Kraft, GB
Kraft was dominant in a win over the Commanders last Thursday night—catching six-of-seven targets for 124 yards and a touchdown for what is easily the top performance by a tight end through two weeks (21.4 fantasy points). The loss of Jayden Reed (collarbone) will further boost Kraft for the next several weeks, and he has a score in both games to begin 2025.
FLEX: Ja’Marr Chase, CIN
As expected, Chase had a huge outing against the Jaguars after a quiet opener—hauling in 14 passes (on 16 targets) for 165 yards and a touchdown in a 31-27 win. The loss of Joe Burrow (toe) until at least December is a clear blow to Chase’s outlook moving forward, but he’ll remain a WR1 with Jake Browning providing steady play under center.
D/ST: Atlanta Falcons
The investment made in the pass rush paid off in a big way for Atlanta last night—as they got to J.J. McCarthy six times and forced four turnovers in a 22-6 victory. No. 1 cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr. (hamstring) seems set to miss time, but the Falcons will be a top streaming option against Carolina in Week 3.
K: Brandon Aubrey, DAL
Aubrey showed why he’s the best real-life and fantasy football kicker in the overtime win over New York—hitting all four of his field goals and four extra points to put up 22.0 points. In the process, Aubrey became the first kicker in NFL history to make a field goal with 0:00 on the clock in both regulation and overtime in the same game.
Surprise of the Week: Russell Wilson
On the other side of the overtime thriller between the Giants and Cowboys, Wilson silenced any questions about his job security with a throwback performance—completing 30-of-41 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns (one interception). The Giants will try to keep the downfield passing attack going next Sunday night when the Chiefs come to town, but keep in mind that Kansas City is desperate at 0-2.
Disappointment of the Week: Derrick Henry
Cleveland sold out to stop Henry with the front playing elite run defense for the second week in a row, and it led to just 11 carries for 23 yards despite a 41-17 win for Baltimore. King Henry could find running room difficult to come by (especially compared to Week 1) again next Monday night against the Lions, but he’ll remain one of the top RB1 plays of Week 3.
Rookie of the Week: Elic Ayomanor
Ayomanor made two highlight catches in a hard-fought loss to the Rams—including the first touchdown pass of Cameron Ward’s career on a crazy scramble and throw across the field into the end zone. The other grab was an acrobatic one-handed grab along the sideline, and Ayomanor caught four-of-six targets for 56 yards and the score to establish himself as a clear starter for the Titans.
Week 2 MVP: Amon-Ra St. Brown
The 34.7 fantasy points for St. Brown leads all scorers heading into tonight’s doubleheader, and it was the first time in his career that he had three touchdowns in a game. Again, the Ravens will be a tougher matchup next Monday night, but St. Brown caught 13 passes for 102 yards against them in a blowout loss two years ago—and Detroit can carry the momentum from the 52-point performance into the potential Super Bowl preview.
