Team of the Week
QB: Josh Allen, BUF
Allen was lights out in a win over the Dolphins—completing 21-of-25 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns while adding another 17 yards and a score on the ground. The 36.5 fantasy points easily led all quarterbacks, and Allen will now look to dominate on another continent when the Bills head to London in Week 5.
RB: Christian McCaffrey, SF
McCaffrey has been the no-doubt overall RB1 since being acquired by the Niners last year, and his best performance yet came against Arizona with 20 carries, 106 rushing yards, seven receptions, 71 receiving yards, and a career-high four total touchdowns. The 27-year-old is on another level right now as an all-time fantasy cheat code.
RB: David Montgomery, DET
In his first game back from a thigh injury, Montgomery was immediately fed touches to wear down the Packers with 32 carries, 121 yards, and three touchdowns on the ground—plus two receptions for 20 yards. Montgomery will have a strong case for RB1 value in Week 5.
WR: A.J. Brown, PHI
The Commanders used first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes in coverage against Brown, but the rookie was no match for the superstar wideout—who turned 13 targets into a 9/175/2 line. Unfortunately, any buy-low window is now closed, and Brown has seen double-digit targets in three-of-four games to begin 2023.
WR: Stefon Diggs, BUF
Diggs (33.0 fantasy points) came in just behind Brown (34.0) for the lead at wide receiver this week, and he only needed seven targets to torch Miami for six receptions, 120 yards, and three touchdowns. The highlight was a 55-yard catch-and-run for six, and Diggs has cleared 100 yards in all but one game this year.
TE: Cole Kmet, CHI
Kmet had been quiet to begin the season, but he exploded for a 7/85/2 line against a lost Denver defense yesterday—finishing with a position-high 24.1 fantasy points heading into Monday night. Fantasy owners should at least have added confidence about the former Notre Dame standout taking on the Commanders this Thursday night.
FLEX: Nico Collins, HOU
A quiet game from Collins last Sunday after going off in Week 2 was disappointing, but those who stuck with him were rewarded in a huge way—as he caught seven-of-nine targets for 168 yards and two touchdowns in a blowout win over Pittsburgh. Collins might have some low-floor games, but the upside he’s shown at least puts him in weekly FLEX territory.
D/ST: Cowboys
After getting stunned by the Cardinals in Week 3, the Cowboys bounced back to dismantle New England’s offense—recording three turnovers and turning two of them into touchdowns in a 38-3 victory. Other than the loss to Arizona, Dallas has turned in point totals of 35.0, 16.0, and 26.0 as a fantasy unit.
K: Jake Elliott, PHI
Elliott converted all four of his field goals in an overtime win over the Commanders, and he’s been the top fantasy kicker of 2023 with at least 11.0 fantasy points in every game. Consider him a high-end option next week against the Rams.
Surprise of the Week: Isiah Pacheco
Pacheco had been very solid over the first three games, but the toughest matchup of the year didn’t prevent him from a full breakout—turning 23 touches into 158 total yards and a touchdown on his way to 23.3 fantasy points. New York’s reputation versus the run is better than they’ve actually performed, but Pacheco going off in primetime was still a nice surprise.
Disappointment of the Week: Joe Burrow
You could take your pick here with a few tight ends being contained and others disappointing (some due to injury), but Burrow was thought to be close to over his calf issue and entering a good spot versus a Tennessee defense that can struggle against the pass. That obviously wasn’t the case, and Burrow’s slow start has led to frustration being expressed by Ja’Marr Chase.
Rookie of the Week: Anthony Richardson
De’Von Achane and Puka Nacua both going off again put them in consideration, but Richardson was excellent in a comeback effort against the Rams—totaling 29.6 fantasy points in an overtime loss. Although there are some tougher opponent coming up on the schedule, Richardson has four rushing touchdowns in less than three games, and he should be viewed as a weekly QB1 play.
Week 4 MVP: Christian McCaffrey
There is no question about the Week 4 MVP for fantasy purposes, and McCaffrey should also draw real-life NFL MVP consideration if he keeps up the production and San Francisco remains among the league’s elite teams. Through four weeks, McCaffrey is averaging an insane 27.8 fantasy points per game.
