2024 Heisman Trophy Watch: Week 4

Heisman favorite according to the odds, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, was injured this week; and a few different quarterbacks are arguably separating themselves in the early race.

1. Jalen Milroe | Alabama QB | Junior (RS) | Last week: 1

It was mentioned last week that Jalen Milroe is going to have a bunch of games with multiple touchdowns both passing and rushing in 2024, and he did it again in Madison while leading Alabama to a 42-10 road win. Milroe was 12/17 for 196 yards and three touchdowns along with 75 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The pinpoint deep ball and his speed were both on display throughout the game.

Season stats:

67.3% | 590 PASS YDS | 8 PASS TD

36 CAR | 156 RUSH YDS | 6 RUSH TD | 4.3 AVG

2. Cam Ward | Miami QB | Senior (RS) | Last week: 2

Ball State was no match for Miami, with Cam Ward torching them for 346 yards and five touchdowns in the 62-0 victory. Ward didn’t even have to take off as a runner, instead doing his damage as a passer that comfortably distributed the ball to his weapons. A matchup at South Florida will be an interesting test for Ward.

Season stats:

83.0% | 1,035 PASS YDS | 11 PASS TD | 1 INT

7 CAR | 46 RUSH YDS | 1 RUSH TD | 6.6 AVG

3. Travis Hunter | Colorado WR/CB | Junior | Last week: 5 (+2)

Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi did the “too small” gesture toward Travis Hunter in the first half of Saturday night, but Hunter got the last laugh with a third-quarter interception as part of a night that included 13 catches for 100 yards (Colorado wanted to get him at the century mark) and two touchdowns on offense.

Season stats:

30 REC | 342 REC YDS | 5 REC TD | 11.4 AVG

11 TKL | 1.0 TFL | 1 INT | 2 PD

4. Ashton Jeanty | Boise State RB | Junior | Last week: 3 (-1)

While Ashton Jeanty drops due to Travis Hunter rising, the Boise State star had the week off and will have plenty of opportunities to stay and/or rise in the Heisman discussion.

Season stats:

45 CAR | 459 RUSH YDS | 9 RUSH TD | 10.2 AVG

5 REC | 12 REC YDS | 2.4 AVG

5. Jaxson Dart | Ole Miss QB | Senior | Last week: 4 (-1)

Again complemented by Henry Parrish Jr., who should be getting some Heisman buzz, Jaxson Dart threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns (one interception) in a 40-6 win over Wake Forest. Dart added another touchdown on the ground, and he’ll continue putting up numbers for what is currently a top-five team.

Season stats:

83.0% | 1,172 PASS YDS | 8 PASS TD | 1 INT

18 CAR | 54 RUSH YDS | 3 RUSH TD | 3.0 AVG
