2023 MLB Power Rankings: September 25

The 2023 MLB regular season has one week remaining, and this is where teams stand.

1. Atlanta Braves (100-56) | Last week: 1

Atlanta hit 100 wins, and Ronald Acuna became the first player to reach 40 homers and 60 steals in a season—and he might reach 40/70. Veteran righty Charlie Morton is ineligible for the NLDS after being placed on the Injured List due to a finger issue, but hopefully the experienced playoff starter will be fresh if they can advance.

2. Baltimore Orioles (97-59) | Last week: 2

The Orioles took two of three from potential playoff opponent Houston. Hosting the Nationals and Red Sox to conclude the regular season, it would be a surprise if Baltimore doesn’t reach 100 wins for the first time since 1980.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers (96-59) | Last week: 3

The Dodgers have won three consecutive series and head on the road for their final seven games while three games back of the Braves for the top record in the National League. Clayton Kershaw’s 210th career win helped LA secure the expected first-round bye in the postseason.

4. Tampa Bay Rays (95-62) | Last week: 4

The Rays only took one game versus the Jays over the weekend, but they’re still only 2.5 games back of the Orioles in the AL East—though Tampa has just five games remaining. It’ll be interesting to watch what type of impact top prospect Junior Caminero can have after being called up.

5. Milwaukee Brewers (88-68) | Last week: 5

Looking ahead to the end of this week, the Brewers might have a chance to keep the NL Central rival Cubs out of the postseason in a tight wild-card race. Milwaukee has clinched a playoff berth and are set to clinch the division this week.

6. Philadelphia Phillies (87-69) | Last week: 8 (+2)

The magic number for the Phillies is down to one following a sweep of the Mets, and the defending NL champions look to be clicking at the right time. They should take the top wild card spot in the National League this week, meaning they’ll host the three-game playoff series.

7. Texas Rangers (87-68) | Last week: 7

The Rangers won five games in a row including a sweep of the Mariners, putting themselves atop the AL West—and in position for a first-round bye—entering the final week. Texas has battled adversity to have a good shot to get into the dance in a highly competitive American League.

8. Toronto Blue Jays (87-69) | Last week: 9 (+1)

The musical chairs in the AL entering the final week begins with Toronto up two games for the second wild card spot—and they get to play at home for both series. The Yankees will certainly be looking to play spoiler for the three-game series beginning tomorrow.

9. Houston Astros (85-71) | Last week: 6 (-3)

The Astros obviously picked the wrong time to go ice-cold and get swept by the 102-loss Royals. However, they now have an opportunity to face the Mariners team currently 0.5-game back for the final playoff spot. So, Houston controls its own destiny, so to speak.

10. Minnesota Twins (83-73) | Last week: 10

The Twins clinched the AL Central over the weekend, and despite going under the radar they have the pitching to make a run in October. They’ll look to build some momentum taking on the A’s and Rockies to conclude the regular season.

11. Seattle Mariners (84-71) | Last week: 11

12. Arizona Diamondbacks (82-73) | Last week: 12

13. Chicago Cubs (82-74) | Last week: 13

14. Miami Marlins (81-75) | Last week: 14

15. Cincinnati Reds (80-77) | Last week: 15

16. San Diego Padres (77-79) | Last week: 17 (+1)

17. San Francisco Giants (77-79) | Last week: 16 (-1)

18. New York Yankees (78-77) | Last week: 18

19. Boston Red Sox (76-80) | Last week: 19

20. Pittsburgh Pirates (74-82) | Last week: 20

21. Cleveland Guardians (74-83) | Last week: 21

22. Detroit Tigers (73-83) | Last week: 23 (+1)

23. New York Mets (71-85) | Last week: 22 (-1)

24. Washington Nationals (69-88) | Last week: 26 (+2)

25. St. Louis Cardinals (68-88) | Last week: 24 (-1)

26. Los Angeles Angels (70-86) | Last week: 25 (-1)

27. Chicago White Sox (60-96) | Last week: 27

28. Colorado Rockies (56-99) | Last week: 28

29. Kansas City Royals (54-102) | Last week: 29

30. Oakland Athletics (48-108) | Last week: 30
