2025 MLB Power Rankings: June 30

The final MLB power rankings of June have a few top clubs surging while the Mets continue to struggle.

1. Detroit Tigers (53-32) | Last week: 1

The Tigers have been joined by the Dodgers with the best record in baseball, and it took a Tarik Skubal gem on Sunday Night Baseball (7.0 shutout innings and 13 strikeouts) to remain atop the power rankings. This week will see Detroit head to Washington and Cleveland.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (53-32) | Last week: 2

Los Angeles was helped by sweeping the Rockies and now get the White Sox to begin this week—so momentum should continue to be built ahead of the huge July 4 weekend showdown with the Astros. Shohei Ohtani should be on the mound for one of the matchups after going 2.0 clean innings on Saturday.

3. Houston Astros (50-34) | Last week: 7 (+4)

Houston passed both tests last week by sweeping the Phillies and taking two-of-three games from the Cubs—suddenly opening up a 6.5-game lead in the AL West. Similar to the Dodgers, a tune-up opportunity awaits with a trip to Colorado before the potential World Series preview this weekend.

4. Philadelphia Phillies (49-35) | Last week 3 (-1)

The Phillies remain one of the streakiest teams in recent memory, and the past week saw the bats go silent in Houston before an explosion in Atlanta allowed them to get back on track with a series win. It sounds like Bryce Harper (wrist) could be back as soon as tonight, but all that really matters is whether the lineup is hot in October.

5. Chicago Cubs (49-35) | Last week: 4 (-1)

Chicago rebounded to get a four-game split in St. Louis after dropping the first two games of the series, but the NL Central is tightening with all three of the Cardinals, Brewers, and Reds within 5.0 games. The Cubs are now 11-13 against left-handed starters this season, so that could indicate a weakness that might be addressed over the next month on the trade market.

6. New York Yankees (48-35) | Last week: 5 (-1)

Aaron Judge (two home runs, four RBI), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (one home run, four RBI), and Cody Bellinger (one home run, three RBI) powered the lineup in a 12-5 win over the A’s yesterday; but New York started the week with a series loss to the Reds, and Tampa Bay (1.5 GB) and Toronto (3.0 GB) are close in the AL East.

7. New York Mets (48-37) | Last week: 6 (-1)

The Mets could have tumbled more than a spot in the power rankings, as the season hit a new low point by getting outscored 30-4 in a sweep against the Pirates. With the Brewers and Yankees on the schedule this week, New York—now 3-13 over their past 16 games—needs to get going in a hurry.

8. Tampa Bay Rays (47-37) | Last week: 9 (+1)

Being the first team in MLB history to have a six-run lead and lose a game by 14 runs (which happened on Friday versus Baltimore) was less than ideal, but the Rays still went 4-2 last week thanks to a sweep in Kansas City. Whether he’s been batting third or first in the order, a white-hot month of June for Yandy Díaz has seen his average go from .237 to 291.

9. Milwaukee Brewers (47-37) | Last week: 10 (+1)

The Brewers are catching the Mets at the right time to begin the week, and then the team will get a boost by the end of the week with Brandon Woodruff (career 3.10 ERA) set to make his first appearance since September of 2023. Overall, Milwaukee is the hottest team in baseball over the past 10 games with an 8-2 record.

10. St. Louis Cardinals (47-38) | Last week: 12 (+2)

We still have three months to go in the regular season, but St. Louis and Milwaukee have kicked out the Padres and Giants from current Wild Card spots—and the NL Central has tightened while a couple of divisions have seen first-place teams pull away. The Cardinals will have to deal with Pirates superstar Paul Skenes this week, but they’ve handed him an 0-4 record in five career matchups (despite a 2.76 ERA).

11. San Diego Padres (45-38) | Last week: 11

12. San Francisco Giants (45-39) | Last week: 8 (-4)

13. Toronto Blue Jays (45-38) | Last week: 13

14. Cincinnati Reds (44-40) | Last week: 15 (+1)

15. Seattle Mariners (43-40) | Last week: 14 (-1)

16. Arizona Diamondbacks (41-42) | Last week: 17 (+1)

17. Los Angeles Angels (41-42) | Last week: 22 (+5)

18. Texas Rangers (41-43) | Last week: 19 (+1)

19. Cleveland Guardians (40-42) | Last week: 16 (-3)

20. Boston Red Sox (41-44) | Last week: 18 (-2)

21. Atlanta Braves (38-45) | Last week: 20 (-1)

22. Minnesota Twins (40-44) | Last week: 23 (+1)

23. Kansas City Royals (39-45) | Last week: 21 (-2)

24. Baltimore Orioles (36-47) | Last week: 24

25. Miami Marlins (37-45) | Last week: 26 (+1)

26. Pittsburgh Pirates (35-50) | Last week: 28 (+2)

27. Washington Nationals (35-49) | Last week: 25 (-2)

28. Oakland Athletics (34-52) | Last week: 27 (-1)

29. Chicago White Sox (28-56) | Last week: 29

30. Colorado Rockies (19-65) | Last week: 30
