One week remains in the 2025 MLB regular season. Buckle up for what should be crazy musical chairs for postseason spots.
1. Milwaukee Brewers (95-61) | Last week: 2 (+1)
Up 3.0 games for the best record in the National League (and homefield throughout the World Series given their advantage over the American League), the Brewers are back at the top of this week’s power rankings. Milwaukee clinched its third consecutive NL Central title, and they could have final say in the wild card race with a matchup versus the Reds to end the regular season.
2. Philadelphia Phillies (92-64) | Last week: 1 (-1)
The Phillies took another series against the Dodgers to begin last week before dropping Saturday and Sunday at Arizona to lose a weekend series. That said, they face the Marlins and Twins at home—where they are excellent—over the final six games with an opportunity to threaten for homefield in the NL.
3. Toronto Blue Jays (90-66) | Last week: 3
With just a week remaining in the regular season, the Blue Jays are a late first clinch for a postseason berth in the American League. They’re another club that’s been great at home in 2025, so they’re in a good spot not going on the road this week while looking to secure the AL East.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers (88-68) | Last week: 6 (+2)
It was an eventful week for the Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw pitched his final regular season game at Dodger Stadium. And Los Angeles extended its MLB record to an insane 13th consecutive division title.
5. Chicago Cubs (88-68) | Last week: 5
While they’ve already clinched a playoff spot, the Cubs will no doubt want to get on track ahead of October after getting swept by the Reds in four games. They start the week versus a reeling Mets squad.
6. New York Yankees (88-68) | Last week: 7 (+1)
Ben Rice hit a grand slam as the Yankees broke through in the 10th inning with six runs in a 7-1 victory at Baltimore—keeping them just a couple of games behind the Jays in the AL East. The Yankees get to play the White Sox and Orioles at home this week.
7. Seattle Mariners (87-69) | Last week: 8 (+1)
It’ll likely go to Aaron Judge, but AL MVP candidate Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh slugged his 58th home run yesterday to help complete a three-game sweep of the Astros with the AL West on the line. The Dodgers loom to end the regular season, but Seattle hosts the Rockies to begin the week.
8. San Diego Padres (85-71) | Last week: 9 (+1)
Many of these contending teams play at home over the next seven days, and the Padres are one of them. They’ll take on the Brewers and Diamondbacks and should be able to comfortably lock up a postseason spot with the magic number down to one.
9. Boston Red Sox (85-71) | Last week: 10 (+1)
It’ll be a battle taking on the Jays and Tigers, but the Red Sox just need to go 3-3 this week and they’re in unless both Houston and Cleveland go 5-1. Boston is looking to get to the postseason for the first time since 2021.
10. Detroit Tigers (85-71) | Last week: 4 (-6)
The Astros or the red-hot Guardians could easily be in the top 10, but the Tigers—in the midst of an unfathomable collapse they’ll look to hold off enough to still make the postseason—get the mention here. Detroit goes on the road to face Cleveland and Boston in two enormous series.
11. Houston Astros (84-72) | Last week: 11
12. Cleveland Guardians (84-72) | Last week: 13 (+1)
13. Cincinnati Reds (80-76) | Last week: 16 (+3)
14. New York Mets (80-76) | Last week: 14
15. Arizona Diamondbacks (79-77) | Last week: 18 (+3)
16. Texas Rangers (79-77) | Last week: 12 (-4)
17. San Francisco Giants (77-79) | Last week: 15 (-2)
18. Miami Marlins (76-80) | Last week: 21 (+3)
19. St. Louis Cardinals (76-80) | Last week: 19
20. Kansas City Royals (78-78) | Last week: 17 (-3)
21. Tampa Bay Rays (76-80) | Last week: 20 (-1)
22. Atlanta Braves (73-83) | Last week: 25 (+3)
23. Baltimore Orioles (73-83) | Last week: 23
24. Oakland Athletics (73-83) | Last week: 22 (-2)
25. Los Angeles Angels (70-86) | Last week: 24 (-1)
26. Pittsburgh Pirates (67-89) | Last week: 26
27. Minnesota Twins (67-89) | Last week: 27
28. Washington Nationals (64-92) | Last week: 28
29. Chicago White Sox (58-98) | Last week: 29
30. Colorado Rockies (43-113) | Last week: 30
