Strengths
Prototype overall size with tremendous length for a guard. Extremely powerful. Huge hands. Very stout against power rushes. Impressive functional athleticism for his size/strength. Great technique as both a run blocker and pass protector. Base is strong and balanced. Combination of power and length allows him to easily turn and seal defenders. Bulldozer when he gets going as a lead blocker. Will drive guys to the ground. Very effective on down blocks. Accurately strikes opponents in the chest. Mauler when he engages. Length helps make up for a lack of quickness. Quick to recognize when he should switch blocks. Stays square and ready to strike in pass protection. Conclusion
Overall, Simpson is a powerful, intelligent interior blocker that can move defenders in the running game and anchor down as a guardian in pass protection. He should hear his name called relatively early on Day 2 and has a good shot at being the first player at his position selected.
