Strengths

Long and athletic target with a wide catch radius. Great hand-eye coordination. Has exceptional wiggle running routes at his size. Deceptive and sinks his hips breaking on in/out routes. Hands are big and soft. Very soft feet to get down on the boundary. Comfortable catching hole shots on the sideline and will square up to the quarterback. Plucks the ball on back-shoulder throws. Long-strider with plus top speed in the open field. Able to make spectacular one-handed grabs. Very good leaping ability and will go able the rim for a catch. Drifts towards the quarterback on in-breaking routes to easily attack the ball in the air. Very effectively on slants due to size and footwork. Quick eyes to find the ball. Able to get his hands up late to make a catch. Quality focus in contested coverage. Smooth going down to the ground to secure underneath throws. Plenty of experience both outside and in the slot. Can win vertically from the slot. Used on motion pop passes. Strong with the ball in his hands. High ability as a blocker. Played great versus Alabama in 2019 national championship win.

Weaknesses

Missed entire 2020 season following surgery for congenital fusion in his spine. Missed end of 2021 season with stress fracture in his foot. Needs to work on perimeter releases versus press coverage. Not very effective stacking cornerbacks to get vertical outside the numbers. Just OK tracking over-the-shoulder deep ball. Lacks twitchiness/suddenness with the ball.

Conclusion

Overall, Ross is a long, athletic weapon with inside/out versatility to primarily attack the intermediate area of the field. Assuming everything checks out medically, there is hope Ross can be an NFL difference-maker as a strong selection early on Day 2.
