Strengths

Very rangy frame. Elite speed. Phenomenal ball skills and production. Exceptional ability to play the ball in the air. Great instincts to jump routes and take the ball away. Glides with the ball and does damage turning defense into offense. Untapped potential with more experience as a single-high safety. Very good overall fluidity. Plus play recognition and vision to see the action in front of him. Very quick to come up in run support. Excellent pursuit to the ball. Will deliver a crushing hit in coverage over the middle. Can be a secure tackler versus unsuspecting opponents. Fast closing on underneath routes in man coverage. Very effective in general when used in man coverage. Made impact plays in big games. Two interceptions versus Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl (2021).

Weaknesses

Overall build is somewhat slight. Lacks strength as a tackler. Not a great reactionary run defender near the goal line. Too often flat-footed as a tackler when not attacking and will take the punishment. Sometimes comes in too hot or with a shoulder charge and will miss a tackle. Should have been more effective ranging to the sideline to help on deep passes. Responsibilities were not very diverse.

Conclusion

Overall, Woods is a rangy, playmaking safety with top-tier ball skills and the athleticism to be molded into a great centerfielder. The willingness to hit and history of impact plays are reasons to bank on the weaknesses being corrected.
