Strengths

Well-built frame. Big hands and sticky catching the ball. Excellent speed for his size/build. Great catch focus and hand-eye coordination. Hands are strong for passes he can reach off his frame. Quick eyes to locate the football on short passes. Extremely effective on quick out routes. Very good deceptiveness to create separation on slants. Gets the ball in his hands and immediately turns into a runner. Fluid hips and overall body control to adjust for a grab. Very good going up to high point the ball in contested coverage. Reliable coming down with passes in traffic. Easily gets his feet down on the boundary with high awareness. Experience both in the slot and outside the numbers in addition to in-line duties. Effective overall blocker with strong technique. Accurately gets his hands on defenders and keeps positioning.

Weaknesses

Limited catch radius to extend/reach for passes. Can be better getting around contact as a route runner. Could have trouble getting off talented man coverage. Would like to see more consistent drive as a blocker.

Conclusion

Overall, McBride is a reliable tight end with great hands, plus speed, and impressive body control. He needs to prove he can get open versus man coverage at the next level, but McBride can be a very productive player in an offense that caters to his strengths.
