Strengths

Thick build and ideal overall size on the perimeter. Tremendous strength. Hands are big and soft. Very effective high-pointing the ball in contested coverage. Exceptional ball skills in general. Has the speed to separate vertically on deep throws. Excellent on deep back-shoulder balls. Uses size and body positioning to shield off defenders. Always seems to come down with jump balls. Has no problems beating press coverage. Freight train when he gets going in the open field. Great acceleration for a bigger player. Doesn’t get caught when he’s ahead of defenders. Used in a variety of alignments from the slot and backfield. Can take a short touch to the house. Smooth catching the ball and immediately turning upfield. Ideal toughness and physicality with the ball in his hands. Great contact balance. Elusive juke move. Very effective stiff arm. Intelligent. Good ability to find space on crosses from the slot. Knows where to sit versus zone coverage. Can run quick slants all day versus off coverage. Draws plenty of attention from everywhere on the field. Above-average blocker. Played great against top competition.

Weaknesses

Concerns about a complete route tree. Much of production came on manufactured touches or deep balls. Shorter routes can be a bit too rounded. Not as effective on contested catches for underneath throws. Sometimes goes for one-handed grab instead of trying to secure with two hands.

Conclusion

Overall, Burks is a big, versatile weapon with great hands and rare physical attributes for his size. He will ideally be paired with a creative offensive coordinator that will give him manufactured touches to supplement his downfield ability.
