Strengths

Big-armed quarterback willing to push the ball downfield. Prototype build. Can put desired touch on the go ball and keeps it over the outside shoulder. Will accurately thread a fastball through intermediate coverage windows. Waits for a lane to open and will let it rip. Great arm strength on deep outs. Tremendous touch to get the ball over tight intermediate coverage along the sideline. Velocity allows him to fit in throws before defenders can make a play. Possesses feathery touch that can lead receivers into open space. Excellent ball placement on jump balls and back-shoulder throws against single coverage. Gives his guys a chance to make plays. Good feel for pulling up a receiver away from coverage. Quality accuracy on short throws. Understands how to attack underneath versus zone coverage. Shows an ability to work through progressions. Hits his checkdowns. Able to slide while keeping his eyes downfield and ready to make a throw. Keeps two hands on the ball in the pocket. Natural on-the-move accuracy.

Weaknesses

Needs to do a better job recognizing and looking off the deep safety. Desire to push the ball downfield leads to putting it in danger too often. Will lock on at times. Needs to be better anticipating open targets in the flat. Lower release could lead to deflections. Very limited mobility. Slow reacting to interior pressure. Mechanics sometimes fall apart by opening up to uncork a throw (almost seems like he’s taking a phantom hit). Has had two surgeries on his right knee.

Conclusion

Overall, Strong is an old-school thrower with a strong arm, impressive touch, and the ability to attack all three levels of the field. He would fit best developing in an aggressive offensive system and surrounded by bigger playmakers.
