Strengths

Big overall build. Extremely tough and physical. Exceptional power/strength. Very aggressive run blocker. Hands are extremely strong. Engages with accuracy and looks to finish defenders off. Excellent ability to stay attached. Generates drive on down blocks. Seamlessly turns and seals opponents in the running game. Able to overpower smaller opponents. Will look to bury defensive tackles on down blocks. Aggressive shoving a defender back and then looks to finish him. Impressive quickness getting to the second level. Good functional athleticism and speed in space. Tremendous feet for his size on interior shuffle pulls. Finishes with aggression even when away from the play. Often does a quality job as a pass blocker despite flaws. Holds up well in pass protection versus more stout rushers. Got rolled up on for two consecutive plays versus NC State and didn’t miss a snap (2022). Team captain. Two full seasons of starting experience at left tackle after starting his career at right tackle.

Weaknesses

Reaction time and mirror skills are just OK. Has balance issues in pass protection. Base is sometimes all over as a pass blocker. Gets stiff and forward-leaning in pass protection. Needs to clean up hand placement in pass protection. Pass sets are more of a heel click than a smooth slide. Slow reacting to pure speed rushes. Can struggle coming to balance his anchor versus power rushes. Ends up in trail/chase position too often.

Conclusion

Overall, Bergeron is an aggressive and well-rounded run blocker that profiles best as a guard at the next level. The strength, functional athleticism, and position versatility makes him a player worth targeting at the end of the second round.
