Strengths
Outstanding overall size. Wide upper body with good length for the position. Tough and physical. Tremendous movement skills with plus athleticism. Extremely patient and alert in pass protection. Keeps a wide base and moves his feet as a pass blocker. Keeps hands in position to check rushers. Flashes great power by sending opponents flying as a pass blocker. Outstanding control and technique. Top-notch overall accuracy to connect in the running game. Hips are extremely fluid to turn opponents and create a hole. Connects and drives while keeping his feet under him. Strong when using reach/extension to push opponents. Able to power/torque defenders to the ground. Quick hitting on a double team and transitioning to another block. Excellent field vision and awareness. Extremely accurate working to the second level. Very effective connecting and turning opponents in space. Impressive footwork and acceleration on outside pulls. Can lay out opponents while going full speed on screen passes. Aggressive finding defenders to hit and follows the action away from the ball. Gets noticeably fired up when the offense has success.
Weaknesses
Will get upright popping out of his stance. Shows some general stiffness despite athleticism. Ends up on the ground at times. Could be more consistently aggressive/powerful hitting opponents on the second level to completely take them out. Did not have the best game versus aggressive Texas Tech defense (2023).

Conclusion
Overall, Powers-Johnson is an extremely well-rounded center that keeps the quarterback clean in pass protection and attacks with high accuracy in the running game. Whether it’s staying at center or sliding to guard, the demeanor and physicality should translate very well to the next level.
