Strengths

Ideal height and length. Extremely fast and twitchy. Terrific feet. Quick and fluid movement skills. Excellent overall athleticism. Very fast in the backpedal. Fluid opening out of press with clean technique. Explosive to plant and break on the ball. Great in trail position to defend routes across the field. Reads the quarterback in cushion coverage and can take the ball away. Tremendous burst to close space on underneath routes. Effective face guarding on downfield passes. Accurate punching to knock the ball out at the catch point. Fights through the catch to get a hand in. Has the potential to be dangerous in zone coverage with eyes on the quarterback. Flashed impressive ball skills. Has experience on both sides of the field and saw snaps in the slot. Will securely make tackles after the catch before wide receivers can get going. Shows he will chop opponents down in the open field. Had two forced fumbles at the goal-line after chasing down opponents to prevent touchdowns. Appears highly confident and will jaw with opponents. Did a great job contending with bigger Florida State wide receivers (2023).

Weaknesses

Overall technique needs to be improved for better efficiency in movements. Allows a step deep too often. Needs to be wary of hand placement and grabbing when defending vertical routes with the ball in the air. Inconsistent defending high-point catches. Feet get crossed up too much. Poor filling position as a run defender. Not very good taking on or avoiding blocks in space. Limited strength for his frame with a thin overall build. Could be better going for interceptions.

Conclusion

Overall, Wiggins is a long, fast, and twitchy cornerback with impressive movement skills in coverage. He needs to clean up his technique and become more consistent playing the run to reach his potential at the next level.
