Strengths
Solid build with thick lower half. Very quick initial step. Powerful and active hands that attack the chest of offensive linemen. Knows how to rush the passer and generate pressure. Excellent power to walk back opponents and push the pocket on bull rushes. Tremendous swim move. Impressive fluidity on looping rushes. Has shown dip for a bigger rusher. Strong and accurate striking when he gets close to the quarterback. Great getting his hands up to deflect passes. Has experience as a stand-up rusher on the edge. Very effective shooting gaps and penetrating. Able to side step a block at the step and then penetrate. More stout holding up versus the run when he’s able to extend. Gets his hands on blockers to create space. Will disengage to make a square-up tackle. Strong pulldown move playing the run. Experience lining up all along the defensive line. Won battles both as a rusher and run defender against Washington left tackle Troy Fautanu (2023). Extremely disruptive in first matchup versus Washington (2023).
Weaknesses
Could be considered too much of a tweener with limited size inside and limited athleticism on the edge. Motor runs inconsistent. Will struggle to get free when engaged as a rusher. Seems to get fatigued and shows less effort late on rushes when quarterbacks extend the play. Moved far off the spot on down blocks when opponents catch him clean. Can get locked inside by double teams. Sometimes lost in the shuffle inside. Has some general balance issues to end up on the ground at times.

Conclusion
Overall, Dorlus is a versatile interior defender that knows how to rush the passer and flashes tremendous power. Whether it be in a 3-4 or 4-3 front, the best fit would be in a penetrating scheme with fewer traditional duties on the defensive line.
