Strengths

Ideal overall build and length. Athletic and bouncy on his feet. Plays with outstanding balance and never seems to end up on the ground. Great speed and closing burst. Excellent awareness and play recognition. Sees the ball and accelerates towards it. Very strong and reliable tackler. Quick reaction time and quickness to get off blocks. Breaks down effectively to play the run when he gets in the backfield. Patient and well positioned to play cutbacks. Aggressive working down the line in backside pursuit. Does an exceptional job setting the edge. Takes on perimeter blockers and strings out runs to the sideline. Hands are quick and powerful to shed. Extends with jolting strength versus tight ends. Crashes inside and finds a way to clog up running lanes. Best move is a very strong straight-arm bull rush. Inside move is quick. Shows a quality spin move. At least flashed an ability to flatten. Has a feel for rush lanes and where the quarterback might escape. Knows how to finish around the quarterback. Wraps to take quarterbacks down with aggression. Strikes to attack the ball on takedowns. Will get up to deflect passes. Very good instincts in coverage. Can run with opponents down the field. Played on both sides of the formation.

Weaknesses

Limited twitch and counter moves as a pass rusher. Not consistent winning with bend and turning the corner. Stalls too much as a pass rusher. Doesn’t give maximum effort tracking down the ball away from the play.

Conclusion

Overall, Turner is a prospect with plenty of positives that just needs to further develop his arsenal as a pass rusher to reach his ceiling. At worst, he has the potential to be one of the NFL’s top run defenders on the edge by becoming more consistently relentless.
