Low build and plays low to get easy leverage. Light on his feet. Quick off the ball. Very impressive change-of-direction skills. Great accuracy and impact on reach blocks. Tremendous overall impact strength. Excellent acceleration. Extremely smooth getting to the second level and turning his hips to seal linebackers. Latches on and stays attached at the second level. Seamlessly turns defenders on runs to the edge. Smooth transitioning from block to block. Will latch onto penetrators and steer them away. Has a pull method where he drags back opponents without making it look like holding. Shows patience as a backside blocker. Excellent power to toss opponents to the ground. Physical and shows tenacity finishing blocks. Great awareness and patience leading the way in the open field. Accelerates into contact with speed and accuracy in space. Very quick eyes and reaction time. Exceptional field vision. Connects with strong hands to stay attached as a pass blocker. Tremendous overall strength as a pass blocker. Very smooth sliding in pass protection. Great feel for dealing with rushers and rush lanes. Moved big defensive tackle Mazi Smith off the spot a couple of times (Michigan 2022). Showed very well on a few opportunities to block standout linebacker Payton Wilson (NC State 2023). Plays hard even when his team is getting blown out.

Weaknesses

More compact defensive linemen have pushed him back a bit. Feet can get slow/plodding at times. Will miss some blocks when he lowers his eyes.

Conclusion

Overall, Haynes is a very smooth and athletic guard with light feet, high accuracy, and impressive feel for the position. His best fit will be in a zone-blocking scheme where he can be on the move to the second level and out in space.
