Strengths

Great overall size and plus length for the interior. Quality natural athleticism. Tremendous upper body strength. Stays low in his stance. Able to move defensive linemen off the spot when he connects accurately. Impressive accuracy and quickness to slide into position for a block. Intelligent in terms of rushing lanes and play design. Does a nice job hitting a double team and then getting to a linebacker on the second level. Able to level opponents on impact. Can generate serious push when helping with a shove from the side. Good acceleration on perimeter pulls to the opposite side of the formation. Big and intimidating running in the open field. Aware to get in the way of defenders away from the ball. Moves his feet well with natural mirror skills as a pass blocker. Has shown tremendous technique and balance in pass protection. Slides are very controlled. Doesn’t overextend to engage in pass protection. Strong dealing with power rushers. Has shown he can adjust and bounce back on the next play if beaten. Communicates and calls things out before the play. Was in better shape and played with much more consistency/focus at Alabama. Still had plays where he looked great at Miami.

Weaknesses

Inconsistent and had too many plays where his feet were lazy after transferring for final season. Will go high and miss trying to latch on. Has too many lunges and misses. Lowers his eyes too much. Needs to be better moving his feet and turning his hips to seal opponents as a run blocker. Seemed to develop a habit of popping out of his stance and having his feet get wide. Vulnerable to pulldown moves by opponents that get to his frame. Could be more physical into contact on movement blocks. Often fails to recognize late blitzes. Had some trouble getting out leveraged by Florida State defensive lineman Fabian Lovett Sr. (2023).

Conclusion

Overall, Cohen is a strong and intelligent guard with ideal size, but the key will be unlocking the potential he showed at Alabama. While enough flashes are there to be excited about, the inconsistency will make him a better target towards the end of Day 2.
